TITLE: DONATIONS NUMBER: I-50
General:
1. To assist in the purchase of new equipment needs, upgrades and the development of
the Sault Area Hospital, donations will be encouraged to be made to the Sault Area
Hospital Foundation – Fund For Better Care.
2. The Sault Area Hospital Foundation office is to be informed of all donations, real or
potential, of monies, service, or equipment to any department within the hospital.
(refer to Solicitation and Acceptance of Funds, Goods and Gifts-In-Kind Hospital Policy)
3. The Sault Area Hospital Foundation will be responsible for the following:
a) compilation of a list of suitable capital or minor equipment needs for persons or
groups wishing to donate to the hospital;
b) coordination of disbursement of funds to the Hospital;
c) maintenance of records of all donations, including updated status of
ongoing funding for special projects;
d) arrangement of suitable publicity for all major donations;
e) arrangement of recognition for donations as per Donor Recognition Policy I-30.
Donations by the Hospital to other Charities:
WHEREAS it is recognized that the hospital is itself a charitable organization receiving
donations to further its efforts, and
WHEREAS donors would fully expect hospital funds to be utilized to the benefit of the
patients that the hospital services, it is not the policy of the hospital to give donations to other
registered charitable organizations but rather to retain its funds to best serve the needs of its
own patients.
