Randi’s Race 2011
May 9, 2011
We are proud to announce that the 7th Annual Randi’s Race: A 5K
Run/Walk for Hope and Courage held at Adams Ricci Community Park
in Enola on Saturday, May 7, 2011 was a huge success. We thank the
generous support of businesses and individuals across central
Pennsylvania that helped make this event a success. To date, we have
raised over $32,140 for this year’s race.
This race is a tribute to Nancy Chavez’s daughter Randi Trimble
who was brutally murdered by a hit man hired by her husband in
2003. As you may know Nancy Chavez has been an advocate for
victims of domestic violence for the past 6 years.
Because of the kind donations over the past seven years, Randi’s
Race has raised $217,361. These funds support Domestic Violence
Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties (DVS/CP). This includes the
24-hour toll-free hotline, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and
counseling for individuals experiencing acts of domestic violence.
DVS/CP has experienced major funding cuts and the need for
funding is crucial to provide ongoing services. Last year DVS/CP
assisted 1,360 victims, which represents a 20% increase from the
number of victims that were provided services from the previous year.
An on-going fundraising event such as Randi’s Race is essential to
DVS/CP to ensure that the necessary funding will be available to assist
victims of domestic violence in our community.
Senator Vance, Honorary Chair, continues to support and promote
the event, along with several other dignitaries throughout the region.
Your support has helped to make Randi’s Race a success.
If you would still like to donate to this event, you have until June 30,
2011. Please log onto our website or mail a donation to DVS/CP, P.O.
Box 1039, Carlisle, PA 17013.

Sierra Mountains it was a hard climb 8000 ft snow capped mountains sweating riding up
freezing coming down. We are now in Fallon Nevada.
5/30 ok we are at a campground in Bryce Canyon Utah it is cold!! started my ride this morning
around 8:30am I rode until the wind almost blew me off the road!! It was not at my back.
6/4 Ok today is Sat. June 4 it is sunny no wind!!! I have 60 miles today then I am in Colorado!!
The elevation in Colorado is scary!! 10222ft and another 11300ft. The wind has been real hard
to ride against. It beats me up!!! Utah was so beautiful all the National Parks Red Rock canyon
to Bryce canyon Capital Reef and Glenrock National park all have something a bit different but
all pretty. I guess I will head toward more snow capped mountains now a bit more green in
Colorado.. I am getting a bit homesick and it is not even a month so I will try to ride harder
now to get home quicker...."THERES NO PLACE LIKE HOME"
