Take one chart from the table and put your name on it.

Each of the facts below describes one of the abolitionists on the list. By using either your knowledge of
social studies and/or library reference materials match the description below to the person it describes on
the chart. (You will do this by writing the description next to the person described on the chart.)

Next, figure out the method that the abolitionist used to get his/her message across. (ie: wrote a book)

Finally, on the back of the chart list the names of 4 women suffragettes who were also instrumental in the
abolitionist movement.


 Edited an anti-slavery newspaper, the North Star and was a fiery public
  speaker. He later supported women’s rights.

 Although not usually referred to as an abolitionist, her novel Uncle
  Tom’s Cabin, (which was the most popular novel of its time), helped the
  abolitionist movement.

 Formed the first society for the immediate abolition of slavery. Published
  the abolitionist newspaper The Liberator.


 Editor and pioneer of the antislavery movement. Organized antislavery
  groups and founded a newspaper in 1815 to spread the abolitionist
  message.

 African American writer who challenged African Americans to rebel and
  overthrow slavery by force.

 Abolitionist sisters who spoke out publicly against slavery.

 Abolitionist newspaper editor who was killed by angry proslavery
  whites.

 Guided hundreds of enslaved Americans to freedom on the Underground
