This week's word of the week is acumen. The word acumen is a noun that describes someone who has a keen
insight. Used in a sentence it sounds like this: Because of his mathematical acumen, Larry was able to figure out in
minutes problems that took other students hours.
Sophomores, let's keep the momentum and school spirit going...Remember to place your class ring orders outside
of the upper cafeteria today, and remember that we will start working on the sophomore class homecoming banner
and other upcoming events THIS THURSDAY at 2:15 in the library. We encourage you all to get involved!
Their will be a junior class meeting in room 1200 after school today. We will be voting on t-shirt designs and
discussing the homecoming banner.
Attention Signet 10 students. Your homeroom teachers have green passes for you. Signet 10 seminars begin this
Wednesday, October 5. You must attend with your assigned group. If you do not get a pass, stop by Room
2205. Check out the WSHS website and look under "Classrooms" and then "Gifted Education" for further
German Honor Society students are to report to room 2123 directly after school today.
Attention all Prospective Tennis Players: There will be an informational meeting this Thursday after school in
room 1122 for all prospective Tennis players for the Spring Season. This meeting is a combined meeting for boys
and girls tennis. The meeting will begin promptly at 2:45. You may report to the classroom for homework prior to
the mtg. no later than 2:15 pm. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Burton.
Come perform at the October 12th Unplugged Coffee House in the Senior Lounge! Dance, sing, display art, read a
piece of writing, or bring an acoustic band. Go to the Eddas room (1000) to sign up or email Mrs. Hailey. The fee
for performers and artists will be $4, while audience members pay $5. We encourage you to wear a costume for
SENIORS: T shirts can now be ordered starting tomorrow, October 5th in room 2715. The cost of the shirt will
be $10. Order forms will be in Mrs. Allen's room. To get the shirt in time for homecoming, shirts must be ordered
by Friday, October 7th. Also, nominations for Homecoming King and Queen will be Tuesday, October 4th thru
Friday, October 7th.
The Ecology and Science Club will be having our first meeting on Thursday, Oct. 6th at 2:15pm – 3:30pm in room
#2325. We will be having an information session for those that are interested in becoming members of the club. See
There will be a Tri-M Honor Society members meeting after school today. All current Tri-M members need to
attend this meeting. If you are unable to attend please see Ms. Wood immediately.
There will be an meeting of ALL current National Honor Society and Beta Club members today at 210 in the upper
cafeteria. We will elect our officers for this school year and discuss the induction ceremony.
ARE YOU TALENTED AT SINGING OR BEATBOXING? DO YOU WANT A FUN GROUP TO PERFORM
WITH? IF SO, CONSIDER JOINING THE GLEE CLUB AT WOODBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL. AUDITIONS
WILL BE HELD AFTER SCHOOL today, OCTOBER 4TH IN THE CHOIR ROOM. JUST HAVE A SONG

It's that time again... class t-shirt! The junior class will be holding a t-shirt competition. The winning design will be
our class t-shirt for this year. Please have all designs to Mrs. Hille in room 1210 by today. We will be voting on the
designs Tuesday after school.
The first meeting of the ASL Honor Society will be on today, at 2:15 in Room 2115. All members must attend.
Any student who is interested in participating in the Young Democrats Club, please stop by the Eddas Room (1000)
and sign up on her door next to the weight room or email her at email@example.com by tomorrow, October 5th.
You will then be contacted about the first meeting date.
Outside Guest Registration Announcement: Attention all students. Homecoming is just around the corner! Any
student wishing to bring an outside guest to Homecoming must sign their guest up for approval. Outside guest
registration will begin September 26th and end October 13th and is located at the security desk by the main
entrance. Please remember that a dance etiquette form must be completed for both the WSHS student and the
outside guest in order to purchase tickets. All outside guests must be in good standing with Prince William County
Schools, and cannot be over the age of 21. Students will not be permitted to register or change the name of a guest
after October 13th.
Homecoming Ticket Sale Announcement: Attention students. This year's Homecoming will be held on
Saturday, October 22nd from 8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold from October 17th - October 20th for
$20.00. Tickets will not be sold on Friday, October 21. You will not be permitted to purchase tickets at the door.
Please remember that in order to purchase tickets you must have all obligations cleared and signed off on your
Homecoming etiquette form by Ms. Koca in the main office, and the library staff. A completed Homecoming
etiquette form is required in order to purchase a ticket to Homecoming. Forms will be delivered in your first period
Behind the Wheel, Range and Road is being offered after school from 2:15-4:15pm. Cost is $230. Students that
have a valid learners permit and a green classroom drivers ed card, may sign up before school and immediately
after school in the P.E. office. Any questions see Mrs. Bona, Mrs. Jones, or any P.E. 10th grade teacher.
