Daisy Girl Scout Program
Our programs are designed for a 45-minute time frame per class. They include an introduction,
lecture, and a variety of hands’ on activities. Many of our programs include books that are read to the
girls as part of the literacy requirement. The programs can be delivered in English and or Spanish.
Our programs/activities are grouped into larger subject areas described below.
Healthy Mind Healthy Body: These programs help girls develop positive attitudes toward fitness
and nutrition, emotional and physical health. The girls will learn about the relationship between mind
and body as well as develop a better understanding of personal power. Also, the development of a
positive body image, awareness of stress management including growth and development, relaxation
activities, drug and alcohol issues, exercise, physical strengthening, sports, and games are also part of
Human Relations: To emphasize healthy relationships and encourage the development of strong
bonds of friendship. The girls will develop interpersonal skills that will be used with family, school,
workplace and community. The program encourages positive relationships based on mutual respect,
cooperation, understanding and acceptance among all people.
Life Skills: To provide science and technology, money management, first aid and disaster
preparedness skills, basic cooking and sewing techniques. The programs will provide basic skills in
computer competency. The girls will explore the “how’s” and “why’s” of science and technology.
Arts and Humanities: To introduce a variety of artistic and cultural activities in various communities
and around the world. Programs include music, theater, dance, painting, drawing, photography,
sculpting, story telling, and textile arts. They included passive enjoyment, personal participation and
experimentation, critical discussion and expanding awareness of different art forms.
The Outdoor Experience: To encourage girls to enjoy, appreciate and protect the outdoor world.
They will develop an awareness of the fragility of the environment and the need to protect it. The
programs will introduce girls to the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
Leadership Development: To help girls develop strong, positive communication and decision-
making skills, be able to present and, through critical thinking, defend one’s opinions and beliefs with
confidence. Girls will learn to develop the ability to work in a team both as leaders and team members.
Community Service: To encourage girls to provide personal service where it is needed. It will
encourage girls to assist or participate with individuals, community groups and other entities in ways
that provide genuine help at levels suited to the abilities of the girls. These activities encourage
feelings of self-worth and the development of responsible and concerned citizenship.
Our programs are selected from each of the seven Areas of Focus, giving girls a balance of different
topics. Special programs are added on selected Saturdays during the school year. These programs
may include educational field trips or events including families.
Topic: Girl Scouting Traditions and Investiture
Objective: The girls will be welcomed and introduced into Girl Scouting as they receive
their Daisy pin. They will learn all about the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
HEALTHY MIND HEALTHY BODY
Topic: Good Dental Hygiene
Objective: The girls will learn about the parts of a tooth, the kinds of teeth, what causes
tooth decay, and how to brush and floss. They will participate in a variety of
activities that will encourage them to keep their teeth clean and healthy.
Topic: You Are What You Eat!
Objective: Helping children learn what constitutes a healthy diet. The girls will complete
some of the following activities; create their own food pyramid, play nutrition
lotto, have a food relay, put together a nutrition mix and take home a

Objective: To learn all about germs – what they are, how they spread, and how avoid
Topic: How Do You Feel?
Objective: They will participate in activities that will help them identify and recognize
their feelings and reactions. The girls will have a book read to them and play
Bingo – Lotto Feelings & Face Game.
Topic: All Kinds of People
Objective: To help girls understand and respect the differences/similarities in people.
They will have the book “The Sneetches” by Dr. Seuss read to them, followed
by learning a variety of games played in different parts of the world.
Topic: I Am Special
Objective: The girls will discover their own personal characteristics that make each one
of them a unique individual.
Topic: Children Around the World
Objective: To teach tolerance as the girls celebrate children around the world by
learning about different cultures and their customs.
Objective: The girls will work in teams to experiment with magnetic science kits and
learn all about magnets.
Objective: To teach girls about the needs of pets and how to properly care for them.
They will learn about being responsible for something and or someone else.
Topic: Simple Machines
Objective: Through experiments, a simple machines building kit and a logbook, the girls
will learn all about work, force, pulleys, gears and levers.
Topic: Sounds Good To Me
Objective: The girls will complete different science experiments that will teach them
how sound travels.
Topic: Fire Safety
Objective: The girls will learn how to avoid fire hazards – matches, hot items, and
smoke inhalation. They will practice the basic safety drill in case of a fire.
Objective: The girls will learn the proper procedures for crossing streets, car safety,
electrical safety and gun safety.
Topic: How to Call For Help
Objective: To teach the girls how to properly use the 911 emergency number. They will
also understand the importance of knowing emergency phone numbers as
well as their own personal information such as home phone number and
ARTS AND HUMANITIES
Objective: Girls will learn about Kenya, a country in Africa. They will listen to African
music, and learn to count and greet in Kiswahili!
Topic: Making an Impression: Printmaking
Objective: The girls will learn about the art of printmaking. They will have an
opportunity by creative and tell a story as they make a variety of prints.
Topic: Music Appreciation
Objective: To learn about different musical instruments, the components of an orchestra
and how music has shapes our world. The girls will handle an assortment of
instruments as they learn how much fun music can be.
Topic: The World of Puppets
Objective: The girls will create and learn how to use puppets to encourage their
creativity and imagination.
Topic: Color Wonders
Objective: To introduce girls to the color wheel concept; Primary, Secondary, and

Objective: The girls will be introduced to the Japanese culture as they listen to a
Japanese story and practice the art of origami.
Topic: Batik and Crayon – Resist Painting
Objective: To introduce girls to the art of batik by creating a crayon resist painting.
They will have personal participation and experimentation in the arts.
Topic: Plant Life
Objective: To give the girls hands on experience of planting a seed and watching it
grow. They will have a book read to them and learn to identify a variety of

Topic: Be Your Best Day!
Objective: The girls will be encouraged to participate in a collection drive to donate
clothing items to the Salvation Army. They will learn all about community
