Help is available to Claim Economic Stimulus Payments

Did you know that Volusia County has 13,868 seniors/disabled who have not yet filed
for the Economic Stimulus Payment? Flagler County has approximately 1,975 potential
ESP filers. In Volusia County alone if each of those persons was due the minimum
$300, it would mean $4,160,400 to help the economy, and in Flagler that would mean
$592,500!

Campaign for Working Families, along with the help of AARP Taxaide, is coordinating
volunteers to help provide free tax preparation assistance to help those individuals who
have not filed for their Economic Stimulus Payment. This includes the elderly, disabled,
veterans and low income workers who may not have filed a 2007 Tax Return. Below is
a list of days, locations and times when volunteers will be available to help process
forms.

To qualify you must have $3,000 or more income in 2007 from Social Security benefits;
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI); Veterans disability benefits; Railroad
Retirement benefits; earnings from work; OR combinations of any of these benefits and
pay. The payment should not affect other benefits you may get, like SSI, Food Stamps
or Medicaid. If you have questions, call the IRS at 1-866-234-2942 or visit www.irs.gov
and click on “Stimulus Payment Rebate Questions” for help.

Individuals MUST bring all W2s and SSA1099s along with a picture ID and Social
Security Card. If you have received a Stimulus Packet from the IRS in the mail,
bring it along to ease the process.
