Accelerated Reader
•Computer program—motivates reading
•AR tests--5 or 10 multiple choice
comprehension questions.
•Most 1st grade AR books are worth .5 ( ½) point for
100% correct; .4-80%; no points for anything below
80%. Points are spent on classroom/school incentives.
•Books are in school library or any Boone County
Public Library. Our classroom library also has AR
books that children can read in class.

I check agendas and Take Home Folders
each morning for notes or lunch money.
We write homework and other reminders in our
agendas each day.
Spelling words are written or glued in agendas.
Behavior color changes and notes are written in
agendas.
Report Cards
• AS – Area of Strength -- exceeding grade level
expectations for current quarter
• SP – Satisfactory Progress -- making progress
toward mastery of grade level expectations at
appropriate rate for current quarter
• PH – Progressing WITH Help -- making progress at a
slower rate WITH teacher/peer support during
current quarter
• AC – Area of Concern-- experiencing difficulty
during current quarter
Parent-Teacher Conferences
•Thursday, November 1 or
Thursday, November 8 from 4 – 7p.m.
•Sign-up tonight to get 1st preference.
•Or sign-up in October.
•Reminders will also be sent home in
October.
Birthdays
•Your child may bring a snack to celebrate
their birthday.
•Please only bring store bought items.
•Please be cautious of food allergies
(nuts and pineapple).
•Please do NOT send birthday invitations to
school unless every child in the class is
invited.
Field Trips
•Chaperones MUST have a
completed background check on
file in the office one week prior
to the trip.
•Three Field Trips in First Grade:

December 13 – Ensemble Theatre
