* All OSAI students: Please do not bring your personal computer to Quartz Mountain. Computers will be provided in the classrooms. We also strongly suggest that you leave jewelry, electronics, and other valuables at home.
Acting:
1. For the morning classes students should bring: 1. Comfortable “work-out” attire 2. Comfortable athletic shoes 2. For the afternoon class/rehearsal and final performance: 1 2 Girls: Nice slacks and below-the-knee skirts and/or dresses, semi-dress shirts or blouses. Hard soled shoes, such as character shoes, with straps. Boys: Slacks, semi-dress shirts, and hard soled shoes.
Choral Music: Bring all music provided by mail prior to the Institute.
1. Students should bring concert dress clothing.
You may purchase your packet of music during the Institute. Students will be charged for lost music belonging to the Institute. a. Girls: Long-sleeved white blouses, black floor length skirts, black stockings and black dress shoes. b. Boys: Long-sleeved white dress shirts, black pants, black dress socks and black dress shoes. 2. All students will need to bring a black three ring binder, a black folder for music and pencils.
Modern Dance: Students are expected to wear form-fitting rehearsal attire during classes
at the Institute. Bring adequate numbers of rehearsal attire for two weeks of class. 1. A yoga mat. 2. Students may bring surgical tape, two or more pairs of white socks, extra towels, kneepads and antiseptic gel or lotion 3.Performance Attire: a. Girls: Black cotton/lycra dance shorts, black jersey-type tops (American Apparel style), any sleeve length long, short, sleeveless, tank). NO EXPOSED MIDRIFFS! b. Boys: Black cotton/lycra dance shorts, black jersey-type tops (American Apparel style), any sleeve length long, short, sleeveless, tank). NO EXPOSED MIDRIFFS!
Ballet: Students are expected to wear proper ballet attire during classes at the Institute.

Performance Attire: a. Girls: Capezio brand leotards, style CC101 in black and white. Capezio black skirt, style N309. Capezio white skirt, style N276. Capezio pink ballet tights, style 1816, and pointe shoes and pink ballet slippers. b.Boys: Capezio leotards in black and white, style TB133. Capezio tights in black and white, style MT11, and black and white ballet slippers and black and white socks.
Drawing & Painting: Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes that they do
not mind getting dirty. Students are also welcome to bring aprons and over-clothes to protect their clothing. 1. Bring a collection of at least 30 images from magazines, science books, Internet sources, old books, children’s’ books, vintage whatever, patterns, anatomy books, art books, comic books, etc. Bring a lot of visual info as you will use it to refer to throughout the institute. 2. Brushes: These are suggested ranges and sizes, if you already have something close it will probably work. 1. #6 round, Winsor & Newton, Series 236 2. #4 flat, Winsor & Newton, Series 236 3. #8 flat, Winsor & Newton, Winton Brushes (bristle) 4. #12 flat, Winsor & Newton, Winton Brushes (bristle) 5. 2”, inexpensive, bristle, house painting brush 3. If you already own the following items, please bring them with you: Craypas (oil pastels), Portfolio Series, water soluble oil pastels or Carandache Crayons; a variety of charcoal pencils, graphite pencils, conte crayon (black and white), compressed charcoal. (If you do not already have these items, you do not have to purchase them and bring them to Quartz Mountain.) 4. Strathmore Sketch Pad, 400 series, 18” x 24”, 30 sheets 5. Fredix Paper Canvas Pad, 18” x 24” 6. 1- 24’ x 36’ Masonite Board (1/4” thick) 7. 2 kneaded erasers 8. 1 Staedtler Mars White Plastic Eraser

Percussion Students:
1. Please be prepared to purchase CDs and transcriptions at your first class session. The cost is $37.00. 2. 1 pair of Encore 25 lb mallets 3. 1 pair of Encore 24 lb mallets 4. 1 pair of Encore 23 lb mallets
Photography: Photography students are frequently on field trips in remote areas, and must
often work in conditions of heat and humidity; make sure you bring sunscreen and a hat. 1. Recommended but not required: 35 mm camera 2. 10 rolls of black and white film. Recommended Brands: Ilford HP5 or Kodak TMAX.400 recommended, beware of C41! Visit www.calumetphoto.com or www.bhphoto.com for film.

Ballroom Dancing/Improv: During the Institute, all students will have the
opportunity to learn ballroom dancing skills and improvisational exercises from professional instructors. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for these sessions.
