Reading In The Dark Is Now At Your Fingertips!
The latest Kindle, quoted as the world’s most advanced e-reader, is known as the
Kindle Paperwhite. The single most advantageous feature is probably its innovative
patented built-in light which evenly illuminates the screen, letting you read literally
anywhere, from the beach which typically is synonymous with very bright light to in
bed in the dark. The matte screen ensures no glare in the bright light, and gone are
the days when you couldn’t retire to bed with your favorite book, especially when
your partner wants to sleep! A very nice feature (and my favorite!) is “time to read”
which, based on your reading speed, tells you how long it will take you to finish a
chapter. Simply delightful, I’m sure you’ll agree!

First in the kindle range to have the light feature; it is adjustable to suit your
needs. Designed for your ultimate pleasure when reading, you will have no problem
with strain on your eyes as a result of the light. Using a technique whereby the light
is guided towards the surface of the e-ink display from above, the light never
shines directly in your eyes. Evenly balanced whiteness across the screen,
exceptional lighting uniformity and adjustable brightness ensures comfortable
reading irrespective of your surroundings, giving you a paperwhite display which
comes quite close to the ideal black ink on white paper ideal.

The Kindle Paperwhite uses low-power LED’s which require very little power.

“Designed with readers in mind” just some of the benefits and features are:

   1. The Kindle touch screen measures 758 x 1024 pixels; three areas on the
screen are touch zones. The biggest part of the screen, with just a tap, turns
the page. The other 2 zones are on the left hand side and across the top
respectively. The left hand bar takes you back to the previous page, while
the top bar is reserved for the menu. The menu icons from left to right are
1)home button 2) back arrow 3) light bulb icon for setting the light level (24
levels) 4) shopping trolley 5) magnifying glass for search and 6) icon with 3
horizontal bars which is a set of drop-down menu options. If you’re reading a
book, the options will include “add bookmark”, “view notes and marks” and
“reading progress”. You can even switch from portrait to landscape mode.

  2. Eight different text sizes to choose from. Prevent tired eyes by using text size
which puts no strain on your eyes

  3. 7 fonts including Baskerville, Caecilia, Caecilia Condensed, Publisher Font,
Futura, Helvetica and Palatino. Hand-tuned pixel levels for each typeface
     ensure maximum readability and comfort.

  4. Bookmarks and annotations mean you can add notes, just like you would in
the margins of a book. You can edit, delete and export the notes, as well as
clip and highlight any notes of interest to you. These can be shared on
Facebook and Twitter from your device without leaving the page. You can
also see passages highlighted by other users to discover interesting facts and
     passages in your books

  5. Line spacing and margins can be changed to suit your preference

  6. A cool feature is the real page numbers which match those in the printed
     version

  7. The Kindle Paperwhite is lighter than a paperback which means you can with
comfort hold the device in only one hand

  8. Whispersync allows for the synchronization of the last page location,
bookmarks and annotations across all devices. If you for instance make use
of the Kindle for PC application, any books in your Kindle library can be sent
to your PC. When you decide to rather carry on reading your book on your
PC, the application Whispersync lets you pick up where you left off. Likewise
you can read your books on your iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac or BlackBerry.

  9. How cool is this? You can search your Kindle library, the Kindle Store,
Wikipedia or the web with Google search, by entering any word or phrase.

As can be seen from the technical specs, the Kindle Paperwhite is a device so
versatile, it lacks nothing:

   Kindle dimensions are 6.7” x 4.6” x 0.36” (169mm x 117mm x 9.1mm) and
thinner than a pencil), it only weighs 7.5 ounces (213g).

 The Kindle Paperwhite is wireless, so there is no need for a computer to
download content. When shopping Amazon’s Kindle bookstore with its vast
selection, you can start reading in as little as 60 seconds. Maybe you want a
break from reading? Choose from a selection of games and applications
specially designed for Kindle. You can also subscribe to your favorite
magazines and newspapers which are delivered to your Kindle Paperwhite
       the moment they are released!

 On-Device storage facility of 1.25 GB which can hold about 1100 books which
means you can have an entire library in the palm of your hand

 Free cloud storage for all Amazon content which means you never need
worry about losing your books. Download any of your books again for free!

 You can buy any color, as long as it’s black (tongue-in-cheek). Jokes aside,
spruce up your Kindle Paperwhite with Kindle accessories like the beautiful
kindle covers (available in 7 different colors) designed to perfectly fit your
Kindle Paperwhite. It has a magnetic clasp ensuring your device remains
closed while not in use. The Kindle cover is designed to automatically go to
sleep when you close it, and wakes up when you open it, allowing you to
carry on reading where you left off…

The Kindle Paperwhite only differs from the Kindle Paperwhite 3G in that it does not
have free 3G connectivity.
