Ms. Sue Murphy
State Director/Washington Science Olympiad
15112 W. 3rd Addition Rd.
Cheney, WA 99004
Dear Ms. Murphy:
Having served for the past fifteen years as the Colton School Science Olympiad Assistant Coach
and, for the last three months as the head coach, I would like to apply for the position of
Washington Science Olympiad State Board of Directors.
As Colton Science Olympiad coach, I shared in the responsibilities of preparing events for
students, teaching/facilitating students in specific events, scheduling practice and building
times, organizing Regional and State trips, providing materials for learning and building, and
keeping clear communication going between all interested parties.
Not only am I familiar with the duties of a Science Olympiad coach but, through conversations
with a former Board member (Glenn), I am somewhat familiar with the issues and
responsibilities of a Board position. I realize that some travel is involved and I am willing to do
so. I am confident that I can bring some new ideas to the board and represent the east side of
the state well.
I would be willing to further discuss my qualifications with you in person should you need
additional information. I can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone
(School: 509-339-3386) or (Home: 509-332-4446).
