1.     Google

We all know that Google can be a great tool for finding things, but one of the many not
so well known things you can do with Google is to use the search service as a
calculator. Simply enter your calculation into the search window and Google will return
the result. For example, entering 6/2+4 will return the following: (6 / 2) + 4 = 7 and
entering 100*.25 will return 100 * .25 = 25.
2.     Kayak
(http://www.kayak.com)
Why search just a few hotel, airline or car rental websites when you can use
kayak.com: a Web 2.0 application that searches numerous travel engine websites at
once. Think of kayak.com as a tool from which you can search all the other travel sites
on the Internet.
3.     Meetomatic
(http://www.meetomatic.com)
Get rid of the frustration of trying to coordinate meeting dates with multiple attendees
outside of your office. Select your dates, email your participants and monitor the
progress with this web based tool.
4.     Meeting Wizard
(http://www.meetingwizard.com)
Like Meetomatic, but on steroids. Allows you to include time of meetings, summarize
responses, and send reminders.
5.     Doodle
(http://doodle.com)
Another scheduling service that is easy to use. Doodle connects to Outlook, Google and
other calendaring programs. Free and paid versions of Doodle are available.
6.  Tungle
(www.tungle.me)
Yet one more scheduling service that also allows viewing from mobile devices. Tungle
includes a public facing profile and creates a calendar for you that can be used to adjust
meetings and availability. Syncs with Outlook Mac and Lotus Notes via connectors and
using its widget you can place a Tungle calendar on your webpage.
7.     PortableApps

Keep your applications with you on a USB Flash Drive. The Portable Apps suite is free
and the website also hosts other free applications in portable versions such as Firefox
Portable Edition, KeePass Password Safe Portable, Sumatra PDF Portable and more.

Free utility that can remove malware such as Trojans, Spyware, Worms, Rootkits and
more from your system. A paid version with more functions also available.
9.     Truecrypt

Free and open-source disk encryption software for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Linux and Mac
OS X. Truecrypt will encrypt a folder, disk partition or an entire hard drive. Will also
encrypt USB Flash drives and can be sued to encrypt Dropbox accounts. With
Truecrypt, you can create a hidden volume (an encrypted area within an encrypted
area) and encrypt on the fly in real time.
10. SecureDoc Personal Edition

product, but still provides a high level of protection and utility.
13. Microsoft Security Essentials

protection.
14. Untangle Lite

gateway. Get anti-spyware, anti-spam, filtering, intrusion detection and more, all at a

notebook computer but without the staff to assist you in recovering your PC or Mac.
However, it includes the ability to snap photos and IM to the notebook. $14.95 for one

Free laptop recovery software without all of the bells and whistles of LoJack for Laptops
and LocatePC. However, Prey now offers a Pro version (paid) starting at $5.00 per

18. Folder Guide

Tired of clicking through multiple levels of folders to get to the one you want? Use this
handy free utility to add the ability to access any folder from the right-click context menu
in Windows. Folder Guide allows you to set up destinations from within Folder Guide or
create them on the fly by selecting a folder and clicking Add to Folder Guide. Works
best with WIN XP, but will work with WIN 7 32 bit.

A free disk imaging product similar to Acronis but without all of the features of Acronis or
EaseUS ToDo backup. It pretty much does one thing and does it really well.
30. Copy2Contact

Make capturing name and address information from emails and other documents simple
with Copy2Contact without having to re-type and add it to your Contacts for under
$50.00. There are versions that work with Outlook, Palm, BlackBerry and more.
31. SnagIt

If the Snipping Tool in Windows 7 isn’t powerful enough for you and you need a screen
capture utility on steroids, look no further than SnagIt from Techsmith. For under $50,
this is probably the best screen capture utility you can find. With the ability to capture
entire webpages and even disappearing menus, there should be something for
everyone in this program. It even comes with an image editor for editing images you
snag. If you’re on a Mac, SnagIt is now available for Mac OS X.

If you are looking for an online replacement for your office suite, visit Zoho. Zoho

Explorer, Firefox and the iPhone. Zoho also has a number of business apps including
Zoho Projects, Invoice and Meeting for free or a small additional fee.

If you would prefer something that integrates with your Gmail account, then check out
Google Docs. The free version lets you work with documents, spreadsheets,
presentations and forms. Access your files from anywhere you have internet access.
Share files and collaborate in real time with others. Create surveys and integrate with
MS Office using one of the Google Docs Connectors. For $5.00 per month per user, you
can subscribe to Google Docs for Business and get email and calendaring without the
privacy issues found in the free calendaring and Gmail applications.

Looking for an alternative to MS Windows or Mac OS X Ubuntu is the free Linux

37.    OpenOffice

If you are looking for an alternative to MS Office or WordPerfect’s suite to install on your
desktop, then try this office suite that provides compatibility with the leading file formats
and functionality that’s available for free.

A fork of OpenOffice, LibreOffice is the newest free office suite that works on Windows,

CCleaner (aka Crap Cleaner) is a free tool for optimizing your system and protecting
your privacy. It removes unused files and removes traces of your online activities.
Works with IE, Firefox, Opera and Windows. His is a must have utility!
41.    Filezilla

If you have a blog or work with websites, you will find yourself needing to transfer files
from your desktop to your web host or server at some point.. Filezilla is a free FTP
solution that is simple and works.

Google Voice extends the capabilities of your phone, regardless of the phone or phone
carrier you have - for free. With Google Voice you get one phone number that can ring

number in your existing area code and you can even port your mobile phone number to
Google voice if you want.

WordWeb is a free English thesaurus and dictionary for Windows that works offline and
online as well. This is a handy little tool that runs in your system tray so it’s always
available.
51. Darik’s Boot and Nuke aka DBAN

Thinking about giving away and old computer system or throwing it out? Don’t forget to
make sure you erase the hard drive to insure that confidential information isn’t given
away as well. This freeware utility securely wipes hard drives of ALL data.
52. Speakwrite

No secretary – no problem. Send Speakwrite your digital dictation in one of seven ways
including sending them your digital audio files, dictating directly over the telephone,
using the Speakeasy software, fax, email, mail/courier. For legal transcription, you pay a

expensive for many folks. If you need to simply record what happens on your screen

54. Evernote

With so much information available, having a notebook tool that can be accessed from
everywhere, can capture information from the internet and the desktop and will
synchronize information between computers, smartphones and tablets is a useful tool to
have. Evernote is just such an electronic notebook that provides both free and paid
storage. With Evernote, you can create multiple notebooks by subject or client, apply
tags to notes and search or filter by them and add new notes from within your web
browser..

According to Wikipedia “Dropbox is a Web-based file hosting service operated by
Dropbox, Inc. that uses cloud storage to enable users to store and share files and
folders with others across the Internet using file synchronization.” Install the app on your

computer, phone and tablet and what is loaded to one Dropbox folder is synchronized to
all Dropbox folders and the web. Free accounts include GB of storage and you can earn
up to 8 GB of storage by referring others. There are some security concerns so don’t
use it for confidential files unless you use an add-on such as Boxcryptor

56.   SpiderOak

Similar to Dropbox but without the security concerns (you control the encryption
password), SpiderOak provides services that are not quite as user friendly as Dropbox,
but is still very useful especially for lawyers.
57.   Microsoft Live Skydrive
(skydrive.live.com)
Microsoft Windows Live SkyDrive is a free 25 GB online-storage and sharing service
that can be accessed by most Web browsers. Access and security is controlled by a
Windows Live ID and a password but SkyDrive does not use the SSL protocol when
creating the link between your browser and its servers and there is no encryption on the
files. SkyDrive works with Microsoft Office, including the online versions of Word,
PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. You can manage document versions, share your files
and Office documents with people you specify, and include varying levels of
permissions to allow other people to edit, delete, or only view
