Subject: INP02AL - An Introduction to InfoPath 2010
Start Time: Wednesday, February 10, 2010 8:30:00 AM GMT-8:0

1 Will the tabular format in InfoPath be compliant with web accessibility (WCAG) when viewing the
      forms in Form Services?

With InfoPath 2010 you can design forms that target WCAG 2.0 AA

2 Is that lists data source limited to a list in the same site collection? or can the query be cross site
      collection?

It depends on your server configuration, but in most common configurations you will be able to
query lists cross-site collection as long as the user has access to the content in the other site
      collection.

3 Is form customization for a list exists in all the sharepoint 2010 versions (foundation, standard,
      enterprise...)?

The server must be running the Enterprise edition to customize SharePoint list forms in InfoPath.

4 What about InfoPath based application with workflow? How would this work when offline with
SharePoint Workspace? Can I start a create a form/request offline in sharePoint Workspace and
      start the workflow?

Workflows do not run offline, however if you have a workflow on the server that is set to start when
new content is added or when content is changed, that workflow will start once SharePoint
Workspace syncs the new or modified content to the server.

5 Is it still possible to create and save a "query" to filter the secondary data source vs. the rule to
      filter ?

Yes, InfoPath Form Services 2010 supports filtering SharePoint list queries on the server. You can
therefore choose to filter the content with the query or in the control. To filter with the query, set
the query fields for the list query, i.e. set the ‘Status’ field equal to ‘In Progress’. Note for richer
filtering of SharePoint lists, you can also use the new list REST services from InfoPath.

6 How to deploy a customized list form from one environment to another (development, validation,
      production)?

To move lists with custom forms between servers, you should save the list as a template in
SharePoint, then upload that resulting .STP file to the other server and create a new list from it. In
cases where the SharePoint application is composed of multiple lists, you can save the entire site as
a template, and upload the resulting .WSP file to the other server.

7 Can you take this master detail web part page offline with SharePoint Workspace? i mean this
portal home page can be seen as the home page of an application - thus being used offline as
      well...
No. Taking web part pages offline in SharePoint Workspace is not supported.

8 At what stage/level of your demo the customer needs to buy Ecal?

ECAL is required for all features that were demo’ed in this session.

9 Can multiple columns of data be displayed in a drop down list control that has been populated by a
     secondary data source ?

Only 1 column of data can be displayed in a dropdown control.

10 Can we get the source of the demos?

The demo sources are currently not available. The Web cast and slide deck are available on
https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?z=j17d9q&eventid=e0b96f2a. You will need to click
the Register link to access them.
We are looking into the possibility of making some demo materials available to customers in the
     coming months.

11 Looking for good books / training on 2010 - any suggestions?

No publications have been released yet for InfoPath 2010. For InfoPath 2007, we recommend
“Designing Forms for Microsoft Office InfoPath and Forms Services 2007” by Scott Roberts and
     Hagen Green.
The team blog http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath is a good source of demos and materials on new
     InfoPath 2010 features and scenarios.

12 What new features area available in the Workflow engine for managing tasks? can we do concurrent
     approvals for one form?

Assuming that concurrent refers to parallel approval of tasks, there’s some basic guidance available
     on TechNet:
     http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee428308(office.14).aspx
     http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee704556(office.14).aspx

13 Can you please review the Second Section with portal as we were unable to see yours steps do to a
     refresh issue?

More details in this blog article: Manage Data in SharePoint Lists using the InfoPath Form Web Part

14 Forms Drive Business

     You got it!

15 What control is used for Request Type (buttons with background images) in Blue Yonder Airlines
request form? Is it now possible to add background image to button?

We use the new picture button control. With this control you can specify an image to use as your
     button image.

16 Which CAL of SharePoint 2010 have the integration to InfoPath with 2010?

     ECal

17 Is there a VPC with some Infopath demos?
There is currently no VPC available with demos. We are looking into the possibility of making some
demo materials available to customers in the coming months.

18 Can we download/show this presentation to other customers?

This session is available on https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=a2d1f10w
You will need to click the registration link to view it online.

19 When you submitted the form, with the last demo, a custom look and feel was presentated with a
link to the main page. How do you that?

We did this by creating a new form view containing confirmation text and a picture button in
     InfoPath Designer.
The submit button in the form submits the form and switches to this confirmation view. The “Close
and Return to Portal” button in the Confirmation view has a “Close form” rule action associated
     with it.

20 Is the REST function standard?

We support data connections to REST Web Services that return XML.

21 What enhancements are in the new Forms model to allow richer code solutions than 2007?

We have added a new ServerInfo class. This class provides a way to construct relative SharePoint
URLs in your form code. When used, forms with managed code that specify SharePoint URLs are
portable from one SharePoint server to the next.

InfoPath forms with code can be deployed as SharePoint Sandboxed solutions.

22 Do you have any information material on how to design an InfoPath form for a mobile? This form
should be then published to SharePoint and start an approval Workflow

You can use an administrator approved InfoPath 2007 mobile form to create items in a library that
has an associated (auto-starting) workflow. Unfortunately we don’t have mobile workflow form
support. InfoPath 2010 forms do not have a mobile mode.

23 More of a kudos than a question - bravo for easy list integration into 2010! Thanks for showing!

     Thanks!

24 Is there limitations to publish InfoPath forms into SharePoint 2010 (related to existing limitations
with InfoPath 2007 and Forms Services in MOSS2007)?

We’ve narrowed the feature gap between client and browser forms, ensuring a more consistent
form filling experience for all our users. Controls and functionality that are now supported in
browser forms include: Bulleted, numbered, and plain lists, Multiple selection list boxes, Combo
boxes, Picture buttons, Choice group and section, Date and time controls, Person/Group pickers,
     Filtering functionality.
The following controls / features are not supported in browser forms – vertical label, master/detail,
signature line, scrolling region, repeating recursive section, repeating choice group, ink picture,
     user roles.

25 Hi One of the major issues I had on 2007 was how IP did its Session Management. Has there been
any changes to it in in IP 2010

InfoPath browser form session management has two aspects, one of which has changed in 2010. A
farm administrator can configure certain settings like active session timeout, postback and data
connection timeout thresholds – this has not changed. What has changed in the farm-wide
mechanism which stores session data across postbacks from users; in 2007, this was ASP.NET session
state, in 2010 we have introduced something called the State Service (enabled via the Farm
Configuration Wizard) that allows us to achieve significantly better performance in certain
scenarios, like forms involving large file attachments.

26 Can you describe how Infopath 2010 works with content deployment in 2010? We have had some
difficulties in migrating content and inforpaths between staging and production in 2007 when the
infopath forms have been deployed to the server as wsp - has the process in 2010 been improved?

InfoPath forms can be packaged up in SharePoint lists, libraries (stp) and site templates (wsp). Links
to data connections in the form are now stored as relative URLs.

27 What is the difference between Form filler and standard Infopath?

There is no difference. The InfoPath 2010 client consists of both the Filler and Designer. They are
     not separate products.

28 For the Interviewer Discipline selection, to get fancy, couldn't you have that discipline in the user
profile and then use managed code to populate the drop-down?

Yes, in fact this can be achieved without using managed code. By adding a web service data
connection to the user profile service, you can pull information for the current user (using the
     username() function) into the form.

29 Is forms server necessary to adjust list forms? Where would you be using a Forms Library for if it all
seems to be managed with lists?

Microsoft SharePoint Server Enterprise Client Access License is required to be able to publish
InfoPath forms to SharePoint and render them in a browser. In most cases, List forms will suit your
needs. However there are some features that are only supported in form library forms e.g.
     managed code and complex schemas.

30 Can I development new controls in INFOPATH than can used in SHAREPOINT 2010 like a Textbox
with autocomplete (AJAX) or with controls in SILVERLIGHT?

No, not right now. You can however do something like put a Silverlight map in a web part, then set
up a part-to-part connection between that web part and the form and have it populate data inside
     the form.

31 In the situation where we want a single WSP for our application and the application contains
InoPath forms and other SharePoint features, how can we combine an infopath WSP with an WSP
     created using VisualStudio?

Site templates (WSPs) packaged in SharePoint will include custom InfoPath forms in that site. You
can take that WSP and open it up in VisualStudio.

32 Can we query data connection on button click

Yes, after adding the data connection to your form, select the button. On the Home tab, click
Manage Rules. In the Rules task pane, click New, Action and from the Action menu select Query for
     Data.

33 Are external Lists better than standard list or in general why using one or the other

External lists connect to external line of business systems such as SAP. If your data is not stored in
an external system, then a regular SharePoint list will do.

34 How can I get a softcopy of this presentation?

The session and slide deck will be available on
     https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=a2d1f10w.

35 I'd like to use Infopath to view and interact with data stored in sharepoint from Dynamics CRM
(using the new Business Connectivity Services). are there any limitations in this scenario?

You can create an external content type and external list based on that content type in SharePoint.
From SharePoint Designer, you can opt to design the form for the list in InfoPath – this option will
     launch InfoPath Designer.

36 I have info path forms in a form library. These forms contain Master and Detail relations.

Not enough information to answer the question.

37 Thank you so much - this is great - great product!

     :)

38 How much time did it take to set up the form of the last demo with the external database
connection? How much development knowledge do you need or does it explain itself?

We will cover this scenario in more depth at our next Academy Live session on Mar 10 th. Click the
     following link to register: https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=a2d1f10w

39 Can you retrieve data from SSAS cube to use it in your form?

No, we do not support getting data from SSAS cubes. We recommend using a Web Service to get a
     flattened view of the data.

40 Is the cascading dropdownlist feature new in 2010 for web enabled infopath

Filtering in the dropdown is new in InfoPath 2010 Form Services.

41 Do you need the Enterprise CAL when modifying a list form?

     Yes

42 If you are new to SharePoint, what is the best way to start learning. Is there a free downloads that
you can get and install like MS Express versions? Thanks

     Try this Web site:
     http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/technical-resources/Pages/default.aspx

43 Can you disable built in form function/buttons in GUI from managed code if you don't want user to
be able to have access to some of the features?

You can hide out of box buttons or ribbons in “Form Options” under the BackStage. You can also
disable or hide your own custom buttons in your form using declarative rules or with managed code.
44 What takes precedent when data is taken offline and then it is changed by other users online, then
a user that took it offline tries to sync it back?

If you are using SharePoint Workspace to take the content offline, there is a complex
synchronization algorithm that is designed to minimize conflicts by looking at the version
     information on the item.

45 Can you create custom Layout Tables or Themes to add-on to InfoPath?

We do not support addition of custom layout tables or custom themes to InfoPath 2010.

46 Can we use sandboxed solutions for an InfoPath form with the external lists also?

No - managed code is not supported in list forms.

47 Is any of the team on Twitter or LinkedIn?

Michael Kiselman is on twitter. Search for #infopath.

48 How would you have modified the form to keep the people signing up from modifying the other
details of the List Item? I.E. The School

Since the School info is being pulled from another SharePoint list, modifying the info in the form
will not actually write those changes back to the list.
You can also set the controls inside the repeating section to read-only so that users can’t edit them
(select the control, on the control properties ribbon tab, check the Read-Only check box)

49 Are there still function limitations between creating and publishing forms between browser-enabled
     form versus client-based forms?

We’ve narrowed the feature gap between client and browser forms, ensuring a more consistent
form filling experience for all our users. Controls and functionality that are now supported in
browser forms include: Bulleted, numbered, and plain lists, Multiple selection list boxes, Combo
boxes, Picture buttons, Choice group and section, Date and time controls, Person/Group pickers,
     Filtering functionality.
The following controls / features are not supported in browser forms – vertical label, master/detail,
signature line, scrolling region, repeating recursive section, repeating choice group, ink picture,
     user roles.

50 Are nested repeating sections supported in web forms?

Nested repeated sections are supported in form library forms. They are not supported in List forms.

51 What is the SharePoint permission level in order to customize the forms?

     You need “Design” permissions.

52 Do web service data connections support XML compression?

No, we do not support binary XML compression in O14.

53 We do not have a developer. What is an EDX?

UDCx is a data connection file. For more information see
     http://blogs.msdn.com/infopath/archive/2006/10/05/Where-do-UDC-files-come-from_3F00_.aspx
54 Master and Detail sections in a form with relations. If I download one form and open in excel using
xml tables....it is fine with multiple records shown. I cannot get to where I can download all the
forms from the form library into an Excel file in XML table format to show multiple relating records
     for each form.

We do not have enough information about the scenario to respond to this question.

55 Can they handle parent-child data stored on SQL 2005 yet?

There are no changes in SQL data connection support from InfoPath 2007.
In SharePoint 2010, you can create an external content type from a SQL database, create an
external list based on the content type and customize the form for that list in InfoPath 2010 (entry
point for customizing external list forms is in SharePoint Designer).

56 How to filter SharePoint list data connections for very large lists? Is there an out-of-the-box
     solution?

You can add an index to a field in the SharePoint list, then make sure when you query the list you
     filter by that indexed field.

57 How do you upgrade InfoPath 2007 visual studio project to InfoPath 2010?

Open the form in InfoPath Designer. On the Developer tab, click Language. Click the browse button
and browser to your VS project file. This will pull the project into VSTA.

58 There is some confusion as to whether you need the ecal to simply edit a list form

Yes, ecal is required to edit list forms.

59 Can you describe how InfoPath 2010 works with content deployment in 2010? We have had some
difficulties in migrating content and InfoPath’s between staging and production in 2007 when the
InfoPath forms have been deployed to the server as wsp - has the process in 2010 been improved?

InfoPath forms can be packaged up in SharePoint lists, libraries (stp) and site templates (wsp). Links
to data connections in the form are now stored as relative URLs.

60 I'd like to use InfoPath to view and interact with data stored in SharePoint from Dynamics CRM
(using the new Business Connectivity Services). are there any limitations in this scenario?

You can create an external content type and external list in SharePoint to view and edit the data.
In SharePoint Designer, you can open the list and launch InfoPath to customize the form. List forms
cannot contain managed code. External list forms do not support additional data connections that
connect to data sources outside of the form.

61 Previously to dynamically populate repeating tables you needed to use code-behind. with the
cascading drop-down enhancements, can this be done without code now?

If the repeating table is bound to a repeating node with data, you can create rules on those nodes
that manipulate that data without code. If you need logic which requires knowing in particular
what row number you are on, or more complex behavior, you may have to do that with code.

62 Will you publish this session as a Webcast?

Yes, this session will be available on
     https://www.eventbuilder.com/event_desc.asp?p_event=a2d1f10w.
63 So the forms get moved as part of content deployment or do we still have to manually move them ?

If you package a site or list, the forms also get packaged. If you create a new list or library from the
list or library template on the same site, then all data connections will be fixed up automatically.
If your form contains data connections to other lists or libraries on your site and you plan on
deploying the list to a different site, then you will need to package the entire site (including the
     list or library data sources).

64 Thanks for a great session

     :)
