(a) The Internet gets a hall of fame (yes including Al Gore)
Ryan Singel, Wired, April 24, 2012
<http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/24/tech/web/internet-hall-of-
fame/index.html>

Dear Mr. Ryan Singel:

(1) I read Reference (a) above with great interest. I would like to add
the following comments.

I. Grand Father of Internet (see ATTACHMENT I below):

(2) If you call Vint Cerf as the “Father” of Internet, I have to add Paul
Baran as the “Grand Father” of Internet.

This is because Vint’s TCP/IP is based on “packet-switching” technology,
which was invented by Paul Baran while he was at Rand Corporation,
though its naming was made by Donald W. Davies in the U.K. (see
ATTACHMENT I below).

Paul was such a humble person who left his following word;

      “On Technological Development:
The process of technological development is like building a
cathedral…. New people come along and each lays down a block
on top of the old foundations, each saying, “I built a cathedral.”
Next… another block is placed atop the previous one. Then comes
along an historian who asks, “Well, who built the cathedral?”… If
you are not careful you can con yourself into believing that you
did the most important part. But the reality is that each
contribution has to follow onto previous work. Everything is tied
      to everything else.”
Rand Corporation, calendar, June 2012, -- based on interview,
Menlo Park, Calif., March 5, 1990
II. Initialization of Global Internet, Extension of Telenet (a
commercial version of ARPANET, the predecessor of Internet) to
Japan, De-regulation of the Japanese telecom policies for the use
of email, de-monopolization and privatization of Japanese
telecom industries, “Global Lecture Hall (GLH)” video-
conferencing, promotion of e-learning and e-healthcare,
Laureate of prestigious Perry Award for the Excellence on
distance learning, etc. (see ATTACHMENT II below):

(3) In the 1970s to early 80s, I struggled with my own time, effort and
fund on these issues, which were emulated by many other countries, as
resulting more than 2.5 billion email users and several billion cell-phone
users around the world nowadays, which brought the downfall of
Marcos regime in the Philippines, Arab Spring, etc..

I then received the prestigious Perry Award for the Excellence on
distance learning. The two-year senior of the same award was Sir
Arthur C. Clarke, the inventor of satellite telecommunications.

III. Initiator of Broadband Internet (see ATTACHMENT III below):

(4) Your article missed to mention of the initiator of the current
broadband Internet, Dr. Thomas Mensah.

Best, Tak
