From the Pastor’s Desk…

 Our goal for the 2012 Annual Catholic Appeal is $71,000. In Pew solicitation continues this weekend
                         March 24 & 25. I ask for your continued generosity.
Thurs., April 26 is our Annual School Spring Fling. Tickets are $50 and can be obtained at the Rectory or School.

 Community Meeting, Thurs., Mar. 22, 2012 in school auditorium at 7pm. We want to update everyone
 on the Bay Parkway property and discuss the resolution and future plans. Also, I want to thank every-
            one for their generosity in helping us meet the final expenses for our attorney.
                                       It was greatly appreciated.
Our food pantry is in need of certain canned goods: tuna fish, chicken breast, green vegetables & fruits.
                    Also needed are cereal, non dairy powdered milk, coffee and tea.

                      LENTEN REGULATIONS
                            FASTING:
All Catholics between the ages 18 and 59 are bound to fast on Ash
Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means limiting oneself to a          Tues., Mar 20 - 9:45 am

                         ABSTINENCE:
All Catholics who have reached their 14th year are bound to Ab-
stain totally from meat on All Fridays of Lent.
                         EASTER DUTY:
After a person has received First Communion, he or she must re-
ceive Communion at least once a year, during the Easter Season.
The Easter Season begins with the First Sunday of Lent (Feb. 26th)
and continues until Trinity Sunday (June 3rd).
Reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is en-
couraged during Lent, especially if you have been away from Sun-
day Mass.

The Cluster Youth Ministry Program is
doing a fundraiser and making beautiful
and well stocked Easter baskets!
We will deliver them to your school the
week before Easter or you can pick up
at the local church on Palm Sunday or
Easter!

Basket prices are only $15, $20 and $25.
Each basket has a stuffed animal, candy, toy, coloring book, crayons
and a game. As the price increases the stuff animal is larger and extra
candy and toys are included. (We can even make the basket gender
specific, so let us know boy or girl!)
So help us as we help you, and order today for your children, grand-
children, nieces and nephews!

Starting in St. Frances Cabrini Church (86th St & 16th Ave.)
    Walking down 86th and ending inside St. Mary, Mother of Jesus.
                         (85th St and 23rd Ave.)
ALL Youth ARE WELCOME to publically witness Jesus Stations of the
Cross, we especially invite those who are in Junior High, High School,
families and young adults. (If you want to read, sing or act please contact
the YM Office as soon as possible)
We will have youth actors, music, reflections and prayers on the sidewalk and invite and en-
courage all youth, all families to join us!
              Witness as Jesus’ walk to Calvary is reenacted on the sidewalk.
                             Cross Cultural - English and Spanish.
ALL participants are encouraged to bring a cross from their homes with them, and to hold as
we walk, and pray, listen and sing.

                                   18 DE MARZO DE 2012
La Cruz es el único sacrificio de Cristo “ mediador entre Dios y los hombres” , pero , porque en
su persona divina encarnada se “ha unido en cierto modo con todo hombre” El ofrece a todos
la    posibilidad de que , en la forma de Dios solo conocida, se asocien a este misterio pas-
cual. El llama a sus discipulos a tomar su cruz y seguirle , porque Él sufrio por nosotros dejan-
donos el ejemplo para que sigamos sus huellas. Él quiere, en efecto, asociar a su sacrificio
redentor a aquellos mismos que son sus primeros beneficiarios .

Que mejor muestra de que Dios nos ama a los humanos que el hecho de haber enviado a su
hijo unigenito , sin tener la menor necesidad de hacerlo, para salvar al genero humano de la
condenación eterna a la que iba precipitandose en caida libre. Dios nos creo por amor y por
eso quiso impedir la perdición de su pueblo amado. El amor de Dios es mas poderoso que la
muerte misma . Por que Dios es tan misericordioso y nos amo con un amor tan grande , que
nos dio la vida juntamente con Cristo cuando todavia estabamos muertos a causa del pecado.

Dios es generoso y nos pide que lo amemos renunciando al pecado y siendo bondadosos con
nuestro projimo. Nuestro peor enemigo es el pecado que hay en el mundo y en nuestro
corazón, los conceptos que propone el mundo acerca del amor estan plagados de egoismo.
Este no es el amor que nos enseño Jesucristo, por que El nos mando “ Amen a sus enemigos
y oren por quienes los persiguen. Así seran hijos de mi Padre que esta en el cielo” Esto solo
lo lograremos con la gracia de Dios.

have an E-form so you complete this form without writing. Just e-mail it back to us, or print it out and drop it off. All Requests
must be made using our form. E-mail completed form to AnnaMarie Scuteri at annamariesta@hotmail.com. This is the ONLY
way to reserve a room here at St. A's. The group listed on the parish calendar is the group that has the right to use that
space. If you are not a designated ministry of our parish, permission must be granted from our Pastor, Msgr. Cassato, a rental
fee is paid, and a lease agreement completed in order to use space.

Sunday Bulletin Deadlines The Sunday Bulletin must be e-mailed to our printer by 10a.m. Monday. All announcements must be
submitted in WRITTEN form only (handwritten, typed, computer, fax, e-mailed, etc) by 3p.m. Friday. Announcements received
after the deadline will be published the following week. No one on the parish staff will assume the responsibility for your ministry’s
