                USMMA ALUMNI FOUNDATION 2008 Annual Meeting Reports

                      CHAPTER PRESIDENTS COUNCIL and BOARD OF DIRECTORS
                                 and Annual Membership Meeting
                           September 25 – 27, 2008 Kings Point, New York
                                    ~ Homecoming Weekend! ~

The first-ever meeting of the USMMA Alumni Foundation - Chapter Presidents Council was convened
on September 25, 2008 at USMMA, Kings Point, NY.

This Council meeting was attended by a historic and unprecedented number of attending Chapter
Presidents and Appointed Representative totaling 27 Pre-Registered and up to 30 including late
arrivals. This Council Meeting was also attended by active participants representing Chapters, AF
Board, Alumni Foundation Members, Academy Staff and Midshipmen totaling 50+. All attendees
were required to be registered and to be associated with a Chapter regardless of affiliation or title
otherwise noted.

Equally as impressive was the attendance at our FIRST EVER CPC Annual Evening Dinner Program
which totaled 75+, with 34 Chapters being represented. We are also proud to note that 37 of 44
Chapters supported our Chapters Only Art Raffle. The CPC generated Mission and Operations
Funding of $ 12,000.00, which included $ 3,000.00 proceeds from the Art Raffle & $ 9,000.00 as Ads
sold, Sponsorships and In-Kind Donations. The CPC operates at zero-cost to the Foundation!

Nov 6-8, 2008 Thu-Sat (Vallejo, California) 2nd Annual Women on the Water Conference.
The second annual Women on the Water conference will be held on November 6 – 8, 2008 at the
California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, CA. Originally scheduled to be held in Galveston, Texas, the
conference was relocated to California. For more information and to register for the conference

The President intends to nominate Sean T. Connaughton, of Virginia, to be Commissioner of the
Federal Maritime Commission and upon appointment designate Chairman, for the remainder of a
five-year term expiring 06/30/12.

11.. USMMA License Plates- Maryland




A USMMA License Plate for the State of Maryland is available. The USMMA license plates cost a
one time fee of $25 and the current Maryland registration will roll over to the USMMA plates. The
Maryland MVA requires that all interested individuals in the USMMA plate contact the sponsoring
organization (Kings Point Club of Washington DC) to make application for the plates.

We have now completed our first twenty-eight months of operation! Our young chapter has excelled
at the forefront of the USMMA Alumni Foundation activities. You can be very proud of our
achievements in service to Kings Point, the Midshipmen, our fellow Alumni and the Maritime Industry!
We hope that you found our scheduled events enjoyable and valuable to the entire Maritime
Community. We have appreciated your support and your participation, in our great Chapter Years of
2006 & 2007! Our current registered membership 2008 now stands at 378! (as of 101208)
These activities are not possible without your generous support of donations and your Annual
