                           INFORMATION FOR BOTH PARISHES
HEALING PRAYERS – for Michelle Law as she continues to recover from a car accident back at her home.
HEALING PRAYERS – are needed for 1-year-old Brooklyn Disselkamp, daughter of Daniel and Erin Disselkamp. For
information on how to support this young family, go to the Caring Bridge website at
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brooklyndisselkamp.
THANKS – to Kenneth and Nannette Johnston and Tina Yates for hosting and Delphine French for cooking for the
annual Christmas College Night at the rectory.
CONFIDENTIAL PREGNANCY AND ADOPTION COUNSELING – is available at Catholic Charities for women of
all ages experiencing untimely pregnancies. A full range of services are provided, including adoptive placement, legal
assistance and counseling for individuals, groups and families. Post-abortion counseling is also available. Services
are provided regardless of income or marital status. For more information, call Catholic Charities at (502) 637-9786.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR LIFE – Recently a teenage boy called Opportunities for Life hotline. His girlfriend was
pregnant and considering the abortion pill. The caring volunteer who answered the phone sensed that the caller and
his girlfriend were frightened and confused. They had told no one. The volunteer encouraged the caller to talk, and
as they spoke she encouraged them to talk to their parents. The volunteer gave them the phone number of Catholic
Charities, and promised to pray for them and their baby. When the caller hung up, he felt much better about the
situation and more determined to seek the help they needed for their unborn child. On January 19-20, the Bishops of
Kentucky will be asking for your support of the annual Opportunities for Life collection. This collection supports the
work of Opportunities for Life, a 24/7 hotline for men and women facing an untimely pregnancy. Please be generous
in your support of this ministry. For information about OFL, please call (888) 496-3638.
VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK – is January 13-19 and is rapidly approaching. Downloadable planning kits are
provided for you at www.serraus.org. They are available in English and Spanish and can be accessed by clicking on
the violet Vocation Awareness Week button under “Dates to Remember.” There is a great amount of information in
the packet.
AN INVITATION TO TAKE ACTION ON IMMIGRATION REFORM – Each year the U. S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops designates a celebration of National Migration Week. We are reminded of our responsibility as Catholics to
help newcomers integrate. One way to take action is by joining with the Catholic Conference of Kentucky and the
Justice for Immigrants campaign by sending a message to Kentucky’s members of Congress that urges them to
support just and compassionate legislation that addresses the need for immigration reform that will help newcomers,
but also U. S. employers and workers. Please take the time to send this message by visiting www.ccky.org.
CONVERSATIONS – On the January episode of Conversations, Archbishop Kurtz and host Reed Yadon discuss
Archbishop’s experience at the Synod on the New Evangelization and the themes of the “Synod Message to the
World.” Archbishop Kurtz also will be joined by special guest David Such to talk about the upcoming Catholic Men’s
Conference on Marcy 16. Conversations is available through a variety of platforms, including the Faith Channel
(digital channels 19, 96.9, or 279), streaming video and audio podcasts on www.archlou.org, and WLCR 1040 AM

The Baptism of the Lord Sunday
“After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened
and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove.” Luke 3:21
Our stewardship journey begins in the waters of baptism. It is through the waters of baptism that we are given a
new life and become disciples of Jesus. As Jesus’ disciples, we are called to build the kingdom of God with the gifts
God has given to us.
