when there is a larger floor area. D ata from the BRE s how that there is an exponential relations hip between floor area and the number of
bedrooms in a property. I t als o s hows that there is a variation of ±1 5 % about a mid point, (this mid point is us ed for the floor area for the
s tandard properties ). From thes e data we have derived a range of floor areas that c an be c ons idered as s tandard; thes e are s hown in the table
below. A ny floor area that falls outs ide the lower and upper ranges in blue s hould be c ons idered as non s tandard.

I f the s uppliers find that the floor area of a number of properties fall into a c ertain range, an average floor area for thes e properties s hould be us ed
in the energy s aving c alc ulator for larger properties .
