and shakers in the great State of New Jersey as they offer thoughts and
guidance for any women interested in starting a business. I hope you find
their stories inspiring enough to help you reach your own dreams.

formed a strong idea about the value of leadership and the heights to which

Tracey L. Wolfman always had a passion for improving the
care of the elderly. In 2000, she launched “We Care Adult

to create a haven where seniors are treated with compassion,
integrity and respect regardless of their mental or physical
state.
In keeping with her dreams, We Care Adult Day Care provides
an environment that promotes physical, intellectual, and social
wellness for seniors on a daily basis as an affordable alternative
to institutional living. The loving and compassionate We Care
Team has provided care for hundreds of seniors over the years
and the company has grown as more people have explored
innovative affordable senior care alternatives. The final measure
of We Care’s success is the positive attitudes of the residents
themselves. As Tracey explains, “to see the seniors happy,
engaged and smiling, everyday is greatly fulfilling.”

Ten years ago, Julie Kampf was an unemployed single mother
with dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. Today, she has
defied two recessions to launch three successful businesses:
the executive talent solutions firm JBK Associates, the staffing
firm SummitSearch U.S., and the professional development
consulting firm CareerCentral. Together, her firms provide the
full spectrum of talent management solutions and compete with
the biggest players in their industry.
Kampf credits much of her success to the people who

Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), she launched
a philanthropic initiative that encouraged the chapter’s 1,750

Shannon Aronson
Ask any homeowner about their home buying or selling
experience and you’ll hear stories ranging from heartwarming to
horrifying. Purchasing or selling a home is generally the largest
investment people make and as such, the resulting stresses and
anxieties can make the experience much more difficult, especially
if the customer does not have a solid support system to help.
That’s where Shannon Aronson comes in. She began in
real estate as an entrepreneur and investor buying, renovating
and then selling properties. Shannon quickly grew passionate
about mastering the challenges inherent in every aspect of real
estate transactions. Shannon attributes much of her success
to her combination of sharp real estate and negotiation skills
combined with her ability to make the process less stressful
for her clients by providing a concierge level of service. That
instinct has obviously paid off, as Shannon has consistently
been in the top 1% of all realtors in the state. She credits both
her team and the cutting-edge internet marketing techniques
she utilizes to attract the broadest base of potential buyers,
ensuring a home that moves quickly for top dollar. Did you Know?

the challenges of a depressed economy the business has continued to grow. At its New Providence
location Skin Deep underwent a significant expansion in 2005 and is currently in the beginning stages

Joseph’s Hospital, St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, and 4 Paws for Ability.
For almost two decades, Susan Barbaglia and Skin Deep Salon & Spa have delivered exceptional service to customers,
demonstrated outstanding commitment to local communities and charities and helped the lives of countless families through

and has been particularly sought after by companies desiring a platform of integrative wellness
education that focuses on lifestyle variations among employees.
Ten years ago, Desiree founded WI to bring wellness programs to individuals, organizations
and companies seeking to improve overall health, productivity and well-being.
The development of WI was driven by her desire to craft a progressive model for women-
owned businesses that would also support them as caregivers. The Wellness Lounge® was designed after careful
consultation with physicians and therapists who practice complementary and alternative medicine.
Under Desiree’s leadership, WI has constructed and managed wellness lounges throughout the country with major
clients including AARP, Kaiser-Permanente, PGA/Glow Media, the NBA Wives Association and more.
Recognizing the need to bring wellness programming and a “green focus” to the local community, WI launched its
South Orange flagship Wellness Lounge® in November 2011, featuring the Something Healthy® store. The Wellness
Lounge is a relaxing oasis where people feel inspired and empowered to improve their overall well-being through
the use of interactive technology, educational events, therapeutic treatments and products made of natural and
recycled materials. Through Desiree’s commitment and passion, Wellness Interactive has supported local New Jersey
communities by donating over $200,000 in product and services.

Being a perfect host comes naturally to Sharon Egan. Her ability to nurture is the foundation of the success
of her restaurants. Developing a business acumen began with the basics: quality and food sensibility. A
graduate of the Ballymaloe Culinary School in County Cork Ireland, she applies her “farm-to-table” concept to
her restaurants as well as her ingrained adeptness in making her patrons feel at home. A co-owner of Egan
& Sons in Montclair and West Orange, and Halcyon Seafood Brasserie in Montclair, Sharon does not run the
businesses alone, but is surely the face of her establishments and the person who patrons expect to see.
A working mother of 3 high school and college bound sons, she relies heavily on strong management and
employs 110 people in her community, many of them women in key roles. Egan’s often holds large-scale fundraising events to benefit
local organizations and charities. Sharon’s equation for a successful business is detail orientation and a strong customer empathy. As a
yoga enthusiast, she has strived to maintain perfect balance. She has learned to focus and pace her life for her family, community and
business. Sharon continues a marketing strategy to create a new and unique dining experience every few years. Having opened
3 venues since 2005, expect to hear about something new from her soon.
