                                   AGENDA FOR CHANGE

Applicants should note that Pay Modernisation under Agenda For Change is being
implemented from 1st December 2004. Please note that all salaries stated in the
Bulletin are subject to review under Agenda for Change

All terms and conditions of service will be in accordance with the Agenda for Change
Terms and Conditions of Service. Agenda for Change is the new NHS Pay System which
is based on the principle of equal pay for work of equal value. It will apply to all directly
employed staff except for doctors and dentists and the most senior managers at or just
below board level. Agenda for Change is being implemented across the NHS with effect
               st
from 1 December 2004 with the expectation that all staff will be transferred to the new
         pay system by September 2005.

The hours of work and annual leave quoted above are the new Agenda for Change terms
and conditions. However the salary, allowances and London Weighting are pre Agenda
for Change as this post has not yet been transferred (assimilated) to the new pay system.
Following assimilation the overall salary for the post could exceed the rate quoted above
in which case it would be backdated to the start date. Alternatively, salary for the post
could be less than quoted. In this latter case the overall salary would be protected at the
level offered. The period of this protection would end when either the total level of
payment under the new system exceeds the level of the protected pay, or when the
                                                              st
