Sending the Xbox into repair:
Requirement:
Broken Xbox
Friend or family staying in Australia
$200FJ give or take
Basically this is what will be happening:
You will have to register your console then you will be sending it to you friend or family member, then
they will be sending it into the service center to repair. The following outline is the simplest way to do
this.
STEPS:
1.) Register your console online after logging into your Live Passport at www.xbox.com
‐ In the registration form enter the address of the friend or family members address who will
be handling your console there.
‐ If you have registered your console already with a fake address like what I did, move onto
read what I did to rectify this situation.
2.) Send your console to said friend or family, get them to call Xbox request and get a repair
request. They will be required to recite details from the console registration form so it’s a good
idea for them to know everything on that form you filled.
3.) Almost finished, they will have to send it into the service center which is free if still under
warranty, after repairs it will be sent back which is also free to your friend.
4.) Then all they have to do is send it back to you. The only cost incurred by your friend or family is
shipping back to Fiji.
For a more detail description of this process you may read on about how I sent mine. I have include
details about customs etc if you have never exported before, also all cost incurred so you don’t get
ripped off.
Because I wanted to handle as much of this repair process as possible (provide minimum inconvenience
to my friend). My cost may be a little higher (like $2 LOL) than what it could have been.
What I did didn’t require my friend to do anything except send my Xbox to the service center (I even
printed the label for her to attach to the packaging). Then upon receiving it after repairs she had to send
it back to my postal office address.
Situation:
1. My Xbox 360 is giving the 3 red Lights of Death where only the top right quadrant doesn’t light
up. Checking on Microsoft’s knowledge base this means hardware failure.

2. I registered my console with a non‐valid Australian address.
9th April ‐ 10th April
Between these 2 days I made multiple calls and received multiple calls to/from Xbox Australia figuring
out what to do. Because I never spoke to the same person on customer service twice there was a CALL
REFERENCE number which was given to me on my first call to keep track of the progress.
* At one point the support representative almost had a heart attack because he gave me incorrect
procedure and though I sent it already. LOL, he was thanking me so much for not sending my Xbox.
11th April
For the repair process to begin the registration information must be valid, so the first order of business
was to give them a valid address, this cannot be changed online so I called them to update my address,
using my friends address instead.
After validating my registration information, my console will be flagged for repair on their systems and
an e‐mail was sent to me with shipping instructions. In this e‐mail they gave me the address my friend
had to send the console to for repairs and also an attached PDF with additional information and labels
to use for shipping.
* This label has the address of the service center and has only 2 fields: Customer Name and Call
Reference Number
To view this PDF you may e‐mail me with a request to gerald_ho@menaceworkshop.com and I will send
you a copy.

Picked up my console from the Post office, produced the letter I typed for Customs before sending it,
paid $2.40 for something and $0 on duty.
My console is back in my hands, good as new, and with a complimentary one month Xbox Live
membership card. Play test 5 hours straight, no problems so far.
*Don’t mean to be racist but just an observation. Avoid Indian customs agent like the plague. They
usually try to extort money. Do what I did, I pulled out my mobile phone took a photo and asked him to
give me his name so I could go over to the customs office in Lautoka and make further enquires. LOL. He
then went on to reading god knows what then just said something to the cashier in Indian and left.
