    The Marino Institute of Education Residence is ideally located, combining the convenience

    themselves of the regular and convenient bus service, No 123, which operates from outside the
    Institute gates on Griffith Avenue right into the heart of the city in approximately 10 minutes.

    from dublin airport to the Residence
    The Marino Institute of Education is less than 9KM from Dublin International Airport and
    transfers to and from the airport take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Unless
    accompanied by an adult, students under 18 must book and pay for transfers on arrival and
    departure.


    Public transport
    Bus routes 41 & 41B go to the city centre from the airport, via the Swords Road.
    Directions: Get off the bus at the Regency Hotel, walk down the Swords Road, and take the
    next left onto Griffith Avenue. Continue until you reach Charlemont Estate, turn left into the
    estate and Marino Institute of Education is on your right. The walk from the bus stop
    should take approximately ten minutes.

Marino Campus
The campus at Marino Institute of Education consists of beautiful, classically designed and
modern buildings, including the student residences, which provide accommodation for over
300 students. Facilities include spacious classrooms and seminar rooms, extensive playing
fields, a modern well-equipped sports hall and a spacious dining area and student canteen.

The grounds and gardens are beautifully landscaped providing an ideal learning environment
for both adult and junior students. Visitors to Marino will enjoy and appreciate the quietness

    Marino Student Residence can accommodate over 300 students in three-, four-, and
    five-bedroom modern self-catering apartments. The facilities of the residence include:

  Restaurant
  A large modern on-site self-service restaurant offers students a variety of hot and cold meals
  served daily. Student on a full board basis will be given breakfast, hot lunch and dinner daily.
  Packed lunches are available at the weekends on request.

  The restaurant is self-service and provides a range of excellent options and choices for
  students. Students will receive a timetable for their breakfast, lunch and dinner on arrival.

  We can cater for students with special dietary requirements once they inform us at the time
  of booking.

    laundry facilities & linen
    Students can use the on-site laundry facilities and all machines are coin operated costing
    approximately €5 for a wash and dry. Washing detergents are not included but can be
    purchased in the local supermarkets/shops.
    Linen and towels are provided for students and are changed on a weekly basis.


    sports and Recreational facilities on Campus
    The Marino Campus provides excellent facilities for students for their activities after class.
    These facilities include:
    a spacious indoor gymnasium
    extensive playing fields for outdoor sports and games
    student common rooms for recreation and activities

    On-campus activities include the following:
    Football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, table tennis, badminton etc. Hip-Hop Dancing, Irish
    Music, Irish Dancing Lessons, Arts and Crafts, Drama, African Drumming, Movies, Salsa, Table
    Quiz and Treasure hunts.

Junior Programmes (12-17)
Classes and timetables
Students attend classes in the mornings and have 15 hours of sixty-minute lessons per week.
Each class has two different teachers focusing on Grammar and Use of Language, Speaking and
Listening Skills, and Fluency Practice and Consolidation. Classes are available at all learning
levels during the summer months from complete beginners to advanced.

Junior students are entitled to the use of a textbook during their course and each student
receives teaching materials as part of their course.


afternoon, Evening and Weekend activities
Residential programmes in Marino are lively and enjoyable, combining expert English Language
Tuition with a daily programme of fun and interesting activities. The action- packed activity
programmes keep all our students busy and stimulated during their stay with us.

Our Multi-Activity residential programme combines an English language programme with a
full range of extra curricular activities and students with an interest in sport can choose from a
range of programmes offering English language tuition plus training from professional coaches
in soccer, tennis, horse-riding or golf.

    *Students staying for longer than 2 weeks can choose to combine any of the above programmes.


    The Multi-Activity Residential Programme offers students a varied and interesting social
    programme, including two half-day visits to places of historical and cultural interest, a
    programme of sports and tournaments, and other fun activities such as dance, music, drama,
    or arts and crafts. The specialised sports programmes combine English Language Training with
    afternoon training sessions with professional coaches.

    A full programme of evening activities is included for the residential junior programmes and
    activities include; Irish Music and Dancing Evenings, Talent Shows, Movie Nights, Walking tours,
    Table Quizzes, Treasure Hunts, Discos, Game Nights, Karaoke, Fashion Shows.

    One full-day excursion is included per week on Saturday or Sunday to places of historical or
    cultural interest outside Dublin.

    Entrance fees, guides and transport to and from all activities are included.

     general and Practical Information
     Medical Information:
     All students studying in Ireland should obtain appropriate medical insurance in their own
     country before departure. Students travelling from EU countries should bring their European
     Health Insurance with them. Non-EU students should bring a copy of their insurance policy
     with them when travelling.

     Our on-site team will be happy to assist with making the arrangements for students who
     require medical attention. Students should cover the cost of transport if required for any
     medical visits. Group leaders are required to accompany their students to doctors/ hospitals
     and for individual junior students a member of our staff will accompany and stay with them.

     deposits and damages:
     A deposit of €50 is charged to all students and is payable on arrival. The deposit will be
     refunded provided that no damage has been caused. Group leaders of student groups should
     collect the deposit on arrival and the full amount will be refunded on the group’s final day if the
     group has caused no damage. In the event that the group or a member of the group has caused
     damage to property we will deduct the cost of the damages from the total amount. The Institute
     reserves the right to recover the cost for exceptional cleaning.


     smoking/alcohol/Illegal substances:
     Smoking is prohibited in all apartments and campus buildings. Students caught smoking in
     the apartments or campus buildings can be subject to expulsion as they have breached the
     fire safety regulations of the campus. Alcohol is strictly forbidden on campus. Consumption or
     possession of alcohol or any illegal substances will result in immediate expulsion.


     Health and safety:
     As part of their welcome orientation students and group leaders are required to attend a
     briefing on the Safety regulations. The briefing includes an introduction to life on the campus,
     security of personal property and fire safety. Because of the importance of fire safety
     attendance is compulsory.

     Group leaders and students will also receive details of First Aid procedures, which they should
     follow in the event of an accident.

Key Cards:
Electronic Key cards are provided to each student and these cards will be required to access
their apartments. Students will be charged for the replacement of lost or broken keys.


Emerald student Identity Card:
All students are issued with an Emerald Cultural Institute student ID card on their arrival.
Students should carry their student ID with them at all times and may be asked to produce the
card by the security or residential staff.


safety:
We advise all students not to carry large amounts of cash, ID or travel documents on their
person during their stay. Students are advised to store valuables, passports or IDs in the safe
provided on campus.


student supervision:
Our team of residential managers/ supervisors and our Activity leaders are there to provide the
highest level of service to our students during their stay. Our students’ welfare is a priority on
all our programmes and our staff are there to ensure that students enjoy every aspect of their
stay with us.

In their orientation students meet the staff that will assist them during their stay and
accompany them on their activities. Minors under 18 travelling unaccompanied are assigned a
specific member of staff who will be their reference point for the duration of their stay and who
will meet them on a daily basis.


security and assistance on Campus:
Security personnel monitor the campus on a 24-hour basis. During office hours students
and group leaders can go to the Emerald Cultural Institute office and our Centre Manager or
residential team will be happy to assist you. Between the hours of 11PM and 8AM students/
group leaders can call our 24-hour number and our night-time supervisors will be able to help.


Cleaning:
Apartments have a full clean with change of linen and mini-clean per week. Apartments
are fully serviced between occupancies. The cleaning staff collect rubbish regularly during
the week.


discipline and Breach of Conduct:
If students’ behaviour or conduct is unsatisfactory or in breach of the school regulations, they
will be subject to the School’s disciplinary procedures. A serious breach of conduct may result
in expulsion.
