AMERICAN COUNCIL ON EXERCISE (ACE) (www.acefitness.org) The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching quality of life through safe and effective physical activity, infusing mind and body practices. As America's authority on fitness, ACE protects all segments of society against ineffective fitness products, programs and trends through its ongoing public education, outreach and research. ACE further protects the public by setting certification and continuing education standards for fitness professionals. ACE has certified more than 200,000 fitness professionals in the U.S. and 77 other countries. AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF STRESS (AIS) (www.stress.org) The American Institute of Stress (AIS) is a non-profit organization established to serve as a clearinghouse for information on all stress related subjects. AIS is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the role of stress in health and illness, the nature and importance of mind-body relationships, and our Inherent and immense potential for self-healing, including through mental strategies and techniques.

AMERICAN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION (AOTA) (www.aota.org) The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the nationally recognized professional association of approximately 35,000 occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and students of occupational therapy. AOTA advances the quality, availability, use, and support of occupational therapy through standard-setting, advocacy, education and research on behalf of its members and the public. AMERICAN PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION (APHA) (www.apha.org) The American Public Health Association (APHA) represents more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health. APHA has been influencing policies and setting priorities in public health to prevent disease and promote health. APHA brings together researchers, health service providers, administrators, teachers, and other health workers in a unique, multidisciplinary environment of professional exchange, study, and action. ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT (ACHI) (www.communityhlth.org) The Association for Community Health Improvement (ACHI) is the premier national individual membership association for community health, healthy communities and community benefit. It focuses on topics that include the health care delivery and preventive health systems that ensure accessibility and are accountable to local needs; careful planning for and measurement of progress toward defined community health goals; and broad community engagement in resolving systemic challenges to community health and social well-being. HEALTH ENHANCEMENT RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (HERO) (www.the-hero.org) The Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) is a national, research oriented, not-for-profit coalition of organizations with common interests in health promotion, disease management, and health related productivity research. The HERO mission is to facilitate research that will impact health care by shifting the paradigm from a system dependent almost exclusively on diagnosis and treatment toward one with major emphasis on prevention and a more healthy and productive population. In support of this mission, HERO facilitates interaction among Research and Associate Partners and others that have a common desire to collaborate on specific research projects. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS (IAFF) (www.iaff.org) The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is the 15th largest union in the AFL-CIO and is one of the most active lobbying organizations in Washington DC. The IAFF represents more than 267,000 full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics who protect 80 percent of the nation’s population. The IAFF is the largest sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The IAFF Burn Foundation contributes to burn injury research, treatment and rehabilitation. Overseen by a board of physicians specializing in burn treatment, the Burn Foundation has contributed more than a million dollars to burn research since 1982—second only to the U.S. government.

INTERNATIONAL CITY/COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (ICMA) (www.icma.org) International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is the professional and educational organization for chief appointed managers, administrators, and assistants in cities, towns, counties, and regional entities throughout the world. ICMA has provided technical and management assistance, training, and information resources to its members and the local government community. It also assists local governments in the United States through a wide range of services and programs, such as the Center for Performance Measurement, the Smart Growth Network, and other agendas that focus on specific areas of need. MIND/BODY MEDICAL INSTITUTE (MBMI) (www.mbmi.org) The Mind/Body Medical Institute is a non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to the study of mind/body interactions. The Institute uses its expertise to enhance the recognition and understanding of mind/body medicine's role in the practice of medicine to foster and expand the uses of mind/body interactions in healthcare and other appropriate settings, and thereby, to advance health and well-being throughout the world. The institute provides wellness information on several mind-body topics, including stress and positive thinking, that underscore the effect certain psychological concepts can have on overall health. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY AND CITY HEALTH OFFICIALS (NACCHO) (www.naccho.org) The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is the national nonprofit organization representing local public health agencies, including city, county, metro, district, township, and Tribal agencies). NACCHO provides education, information, research, and technical assistance to local health departments and facilitates partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies in order to promote and strengthen public health. NACCHO’s unified organization represents much of the local governmental public health agencies. NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINERS ASSOCIATION (NATA) (www.nata.org) NATA works to advance the profession of athletic training and enhance the health care of the physically active worldwide. Through its many publications and annual meeting, NATA provides health, fitness and training tips and resources to its members and accredited 198 athletic training education programs. NATIONAL CIVIC LEAGUE (NCL) (www.ncl.org) NCL is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to building community. It helps business, government, community groups, and individuals work together to solve critical problems. It also serves as a resource for anyone interested in cutting-edge community building practices. NCL membership provides access to a broad network of more than 2,300 community, business and

government leaders committed to community renewal and citizen participation in local governance. NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STATE LEGISLATURES (NCSL) (www.ncsl.org) The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues. NATIONAL FITNESS THERAPY ASSOCIATION (NFTA) (www.nfta.org) The National Fitness Therapy Association (NFTA) is an independent, not-for-profit professional accrediting association formed to validate the credibility and accountability of fitness professionals and fitness facilities. NFTA provides accreditation for fitness professionals and facilities offering postrehab exercise therapy services, preventive health care services for special populations and exercise programs for referrals with clinically diagnosed conditions. NATIONAL WOMEN’S HEALTH RESOURCE CENTER (NWHRC) (www.healthywomen.org) The National Women’s Health Resource Center (NWHRC) is the nation’s leading independent, non-profit organization dedicated to educating women of all ages about health and wellness issues. It provides women with the information they need to make informed decisions on important health topics. The NWHRC sponsors a number of public education campaigns concerning women’s health issues. PARTNERSHIP FOR PREVENTION (www.prevent.org) The Partnership for Prevention emphasizes disease prevention and health promotion in national policy and practice by providing highquality information to policy makers. The Partnership's programs aim to increase the priority on prevention in health-related policy and the US health care system. YOGA ALLIANCE – Invitation Pending (www.yogaalliance.org) Yoga Alliance seeks to promote mental and physical health by uniting Yoga enthusiasts from all the different schools and lineages. Developed in 1984, Yoga Alliance develops and maintains standards for registered Yoga teachers. Additionally, the Alliance provides networking for registered and unregistered teachers and publishes a regular newsletter. The organization seeks to partner with groups that can facilitate the acceptance and support of Yoga teachers as professionals in the modern world.
