What is the Annual Appeal and why is it important?
The Annual Appeal is a yearly fundraising campaign that supports day to day educa on at Trinity High School. Through the gen-
erosity of our alumni, parents and friends, we have been able to change the lives of our students through offerings of financial
aid, classroom and technology updates, campus ministry programs, and athle c and fine arts programs.

When you make a gi to the Annual Appeal, you are making a difference in a very real way. This year alone 186 students re-
ceived over $400,000 in aid. Your gi ensures our ability to assist families and students who require financial aid to con nue
their educa on at Trinity.

To make a dona on to the 2012-2013 Annual Appeal, you may mail your gi to Trinity High School, c/o Advancement Office, or
donate online. Thank you for your support!

Dress up in costume or dress down and raise money for the Lauren and Spencer Day Founda on. The Lauren and Spencer Day
Founda on provides financial help to families going through a major medical crisis. The Founda on was started by friends to

Next spring we will launch our first capital campaign as we celebrate Trinity’s 50th anniversary. As you know, several aspects
of our buildings and campus need to be renovated and modernized. The master plan that was completed last year itemizes
and priori zes the capital projects that are needed. The recently completed feasibility study by our fundraising consultant
has iden fied the extent to which our Trinity community is willing to support such major undertakings. A er reviewing vari-
ous op ons cited in the la er report, our Board of Directors has approved a mul -year campaign commencing next spring.
First priority: replace all external window walls so that we can secure the thermal envelope in our building. Second priority:
install a centralized hea ng and cooling system throughout our facility. Over the next five years we also intend to build an
endowment restricted to need-based scholarships for deserving families.

We are very proud of the fact that during the current school year over $400,000 was allocated to help fund a Trinity educa-
on for one of every three students (186 students). We can and must do be er to provide the transforma ve learning ex-
perience that Trinity affords as more and more families struggle through the uncertain economic mes in which we live. We
have yet to deny enrollment to a single family for financial reasons and we intend to keep that record intact going forward.
But to do so, we will need all the support we can get from you and our other cons tuencies. Together, we will keep Trinity
as a shining beacon among secondary school op ons for families living in central Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

                                              T i La C
                                             Attends Latin Convention
The 2011-2012 school year was Trinity’s second me to send delegates to the Pennsylvania Junior Classical League La n Con-
ven on. Thirteen La n students a ended the three-day long event in May 2012. Delegates took part in academic tes ng,
oratory compe ons, spor ng events, school spirit compe ons, and submi ed projects they had completed in prepara on
for the conven on. A total of almost six hundred La n students from all corners of Pennsylvania competed at Penn State Uni-
versity. In addi on to thirty individual awards, Trinity High School was awarded the second-place Division II trophy, first place
for our chapter shirt design, second place in volleyball, first place in watercolor pain ngs, and first place for our chapter scrap-
book. Congratula ons to Iszy Abiuso, Connor Bailey, Karl Dickey, Dianne Howard, Rachel Jackson, Megan Kelly, Bailey King,
John Leigh, Rebecca McCullough, Mark Panas, Vince Spinelli, Dominic Turo, and Liz Vinarski.

Our 2012 delega on was confident in returning to Conven on for a second me and we competed in even more events than
our first year. It wasn’t as easy as it sounded; the whole year leading up to Conven on was full of ght schedules and long
prepara on by every delegate. Liz Vinarski produced a music video which required her to not only write a song and a script
but also to direct her first film. Megan Kelly, a delegate who would be the first to admit that she was not an ar st, pulled her
hair out trying to construct a mosaic. John Leigh constructed a scale model of an an-
cient catapult. Karl Dickey memorized a piece of La n prose for a drama c interpre-
ta on recita on. Not only did Trinity’s PAJCL group work hard, but we also said
goodbye to our one senior Conven on delegate, Vince Spinelli, who was with the
La n Club from its beginnings and helped it grow into the La n-loving establishment
it is today with over thirty members! With another year of Conven on under our
belt, Trinity remembers the good mes and can’t wait for the 2013 Conven on!

A Message from the Ac vi es Office
Just to catch you up on all our ac vi es for the fall. Once school starts, there is no stopping.
The students are organizing and preparing for Homecoming on October 12 with field day during the day, game in the evening and
dance the next evening.

May I remind you that dresses for Homecoming must be appropriate. This is not a formal dance so dresses should be nice dresses
NOT TOO SHORT, NOT TOO TIGHT and NOT TOO LOW front or back. I am the dress checker. Please help me.

The seniors will be going to Holy Name Church at the Bishop’s request to open the Year of Faith. The mass is at 10:00 a.m. and
the students will be bussed to and from.

Exci ng touch of spirit! We are selling LED glasses for the Camp Hill game which is home this year. The student sec on will be
purchasing the glasses for $4.50 in school and $5.00 at the game. If you wish a pair, as well, let me know. They come in green,
white, yellow and pink.

Then for Halloween, the children from Harrisburg Catholic Elementary are coming to celebrate Halloween with us for two hours.
It is fun for them and for our students.

Please con nue to check our printed calendar as well as the website calendar for all events and changes. Thank you for sharing
the year and your students with us.

Service/Ac vity Fair

THS recently held a Service/Ac vity Fair in the cafeteria for all of our Freshman and new students. Several of our THS seniors
volunteered to represent service groups in which they have been involved. The Freshman and new students had the opportuni-
ty to talk with the service representa ves about their par cular service experiences. We hope this Fair helped all of our new
members of THS to learn more about the many service opportuni es available to them throughout the year. Thanks to seniors
Emily Williams, Molly Brennan, Ruth Tegene, Dominick Arp, Melissa Leandri, Will Edwards, Marissa Zimmerman, Leigha Wentz,
Alex Swade and junior Jonathan Behnke. Their show of spirit got many students to visit the service displays and find out more-
about our ‘Rocks in Mo on service program.

                                                     Senior Religion Classes

Our seniors have begun the school year delving into the study of Church and Church History. In order for the students to be er
appreciate the early Church and the Chris an communi es that we read about in the New Testament, Mrs. Fejfar’s students
are forming their own Church community groups. Students will use a Facebook model for the project. They will research their
chosen apostle and one of the early Chris an communi es. Next they will create a blog between the Church leaders and some-
one interested in becoming a member of the Church community. Each Church group will share an oral presenta on with their
classmates. Throughout the year students will gather with their Church communi es for prayer, study, and faith sharing.
                                                                                                                Mrs. Judi Fejfar

How Individuals Can Avoid Disturbing Asbestos Containing Material

Every school from K thru 12 must have their buildings inspected by state cer fied inspectors. This informa on is compiled in a booklet called the Management
Plan. Each school has their Management Plan on file in the administra on office and is available for review for those who desire to see it. Ge ng acquainted

How to Recognize and Report Damage

By using the proper sec on of the Management Plan that describes type, amount, loca on and condi on of asbestos at the me of the report, you can recognize
damaged areas by comparing to the original plans. Visual inspec on is the most important way to recognize damaged material.

• Repor ng damage: any material containing asbestos that has become broken or damaged and may be releasing fibers to the air should be reported to man-
agement as soon as possible . In turn, management will no fy the asbestos coordinator or the diocese of Harrisburg.

Thank you to you and your students for the support for our Jamaica mission. We were able to give Father Roland $5000 to help
support the 36 children in the Our Lady of Hope Children’s Home. He receives minimal assistance from the government in Ja-
maica and depends on people like us to help. We took down food items as
well: peanut bu er (the favorite food), pudding mixes, tuna, pancake mix, dry
milk and other dry food stuffs. They are always so grateful.
We will be collec ng again this year in May. The items we most need are food
stuffs, school supplies, some clothing but specific kinds ( underwear, white T-
shirts, dark socks, etc.) Homerooms have helped by suppor ng a specific child
for $150.
Our own students have gained so much from going. They have learned the
true meaning of it is be er to give than to receive but, in reality, we receive so
much more than we give.
Thank you in the name of Father and the children.
