Hey Kids,
                                              JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER

This is a nostalgic, street rod and custom event. In that order, those cars will have priority for the 1/8 mile. If you own
a later model car (’79 or older) and want to bring it to Brainerd, you are welcome to do so but you can’t participate in the
“on track” activities. Please remember that the nostalgia, drag cars, street rods and customs that are not included in the
“PRO” category take priority in staging. NO EXCEPTIONS!

DRAG RACING PROGRAM:
Sessions all day Saturday and two sessions on Sunday, weather permitting. Session times to be announced at the
event. We’ll run 1/8 and 1/4 mile.
This is FREE TO MSRA CARD CARRYING MEMBERS.
These on-track sessions are provided for invited guests of MSRA to run their nostalgia and/or professional drag cars.
There will be several vintage front-engine dragsters, top fuel cars, fuel altered and possibly several vintage ‘60s “funny
cars”. This is part of racing too.

CLASS RULES:
NO bracket cars, NO 3rd generation Camaros, NO Tuners or sport compacts, NO motorcycles and NO rear engine
dragsters.
What this means is this is a nostalgia drag, street rod and custom run for MSRA members. You’re welcome to come
but nothing built after 1979 will be allowed to run the 1/8 mile non-comp program unless the car has NHRA significance.
No exceptions!
DRAG RACING RULES: There will be NO LICENSE TEST RUNS!
MSRA members will be allowed to make passes down the drag strip provided their cars will pass the on-site NHRA
Tech & Safety Inspection. If you do not pass Tech you do not run your car. NO EXCEPTIONS! You must be a licensed
driver with valid license and proof of insurance AND a current MSRA membership card to participate.
Your vehicle must have the minimum required safety equipment for the speed and ET your vehicle runs in order to
make a pass down the World’s Fastest Drag strip. Some examples of missed items from previous years are: improperly
installed or missing seats or seat belts, missing or leaking coolant overflow “puke” tank, missing or broken battery hold
down, nylon tubing used for a mechanical oil pressure gauge and missing or expired safety helmet.
We will have full safety and medical personnel on site during “hot track” times. Some vehicles may only be allowed to
run 1/8 mile while others will get the ok to run the full 1/4 mile. This will be determined by the Tech Inspector at the time
of inspection. Make sure your helmet has a Snell Safety Foundation sticker inside, rated M2005, SA2000 or SA2005 and
that all other equipment like belts and certifications are up to date and in good shape. So, if you plan to run your car,
make sure it’s strong and safe and ready to run. If you do not pass Tech, you do not get to run your car. NO
EXCEPTIONS!
                                                 SAFETY IS FOR YOU!

North Shore Classics Car Club Secretary
                                               MSRA FALL CAMPOUT UPDATE
The Fall Campout is almost upon us and The North Shore Classics Car Club has been busily planning for your
weekend “Up North” the weekend after Labor Day. The dates for this event are Friday through Sunday, September 7th,
8th and 9th.
Lodging update! The Two Harbors Municipal Campground is now full. The Knife River Campground (218-834-5044),
approximately 8 miles south of Two Harbors (owned and operated by an MSRA member) is still accepting reservations
but has limited availability, so reserve soon if you are planning on camping.
Two additional resorts have offered up a special rate for the weekend:
Grand Superior Lodge (800-627-9565) located just south of Gooseberry Falls State Park and Larsmont Cottages
(866-687-7634), approximately 5 miles south of Two Harbors. Be sure to request the MSRA rate when making
reservations.
Blocks of rooms have also been reserved at a reduced MSRA rate at the following hotels. Be sure to request the
special MSRA rate: AmericInn 218-834-3000, Country Inn 218-834-5557, 877-604-5332 and Superior Shores 218-834-
5671, 800-242-1988. MSRA members are booking the entire Superior Shores Lodge building, so they are providing us
with live music by the Fractals and free shuttle service on Saturday night. It should be quite the party! A Sunday Brunch
buffet will also be available there.
Additional lodging options can be found at
    www.twoharborschamber.com
Plans will continue to be revealed as they are finalized but we promise to provide some unique activities that aren’t
available anywhere else. We are planning two Poker Runs, one running to the north & one to the south, so there will be
plenty of opportunities for sightseeing along the North Shore, including a stop at a historic Logging Camp Museum.
Plans for Friday night’s dinner are for a Lake Superior fish fry, music & karaoke and an outdoor movie at the Lake
County fairgrounds. We are already praying for great weather for the weekend!
The Show & Shine will be located at the Two Harbors waterfront with views of Lake Superior & the ore shipping facility
in Agate Bay. You may even have the opportunity to view 1,000 foot ore carriers maneuver their way in and out of the
harbor while you’re there. An antique steam locomotive is scheduled to arrive during the day and there are 4 museums
within a short walk, including a floating tug boat and the Two Harbors Lighthouse B & B. There will also be a craft show on
site and food will be available throughout the Show & Shine area.
Lakeview National Golf Course has some of the most spectacular vistas in the state and will offer special rates for
MSRA members. Reserve your tee time during registration. Not so ambitious? The Country Inn will be offering free mini
golf for MSRA members, too!
Did you know that there are FIFTEEN STATE PARKS within a 100 mile radius of Two Harbors? FIVE of these are
located within 55 miles along the North Shore, which has also been designated as a National Scenic Byway. You may
want to take this opportunity to spend some additional time in the area experiencing all that Minnesota’s Arrowhead
Region has to offer. Several of our State Parks will be available for MSRA members to tour at no cost during the
weekend. They all feature spectacular scenery, each with their own special attributes. Take it from those of us who live
here, it’s definitely worth the trip!
The North Shore Classics Car Club is honored to be able to provide rides on Lake Superior for MSRA members on a
retired US Coast Guard icebreaking vessel. The Sundew is privately owned and not open to the public. This is a once-in-a
lifetime opportunity that you will not be able to find anywhere else. Registration will be on a FIRST COME FIRST
SERVED basis and is WEATHER DEPENDENT! You will want to be sure to register early in the day on Friday to take
advantage of this very special opportunity!
REGISTRATION will be at the Two Harbors Community Center located at 417 South Avenue. Directions: You will be
coming into Two Harbors on Highway 61. Turn South (toward Lake Superior) at Waterfront Drive (Dairy Queen is on the
corner). Travel through 2 stop signs (7 blocks) to South Avenue (you will see 2 historic train engines). Turn to the left. The
Community building will be 1 block on the left. This will also be the location of Saturday’s Show & Shine.
REGISTRATION TIMES:
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th: 8 am - 7 pm
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th: 8 am - 2 pm
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to the unprecedented interest in this year’s Fall Campout,
MSRA is respectfully requesting that you send an email to the address below if you are
planning on attending. They expect that attendance may far exceed previous years and want
to make sure that enough packets, merchandise and food are available for all attendees. In
your email, please include your name, MSRA # and the number in your party. This will also aid
in a speedy registration process. It will also be helpful if you are only planning on attending
one day, to indicate this as well.
You can also find us on Facebook at: North Shore Classics Car Club or questions can be directed to:
  MSRAfallcampout@hotmail.com
Don’t forget to bring your MSRA card & send an email if you plan to attend!
