Department Description

The Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary invites applications for term certain Sessional Instructor positions
for the 2012-2013 academic year, including Fall 2012, Winter 2013, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 terms. Sessional
instructors will teach on-campus and/or online graduate courses that are integral parts of the graduate programs in the
Faculty of Education.

The Graduate Programs Office has over 1000 graduate students registered in 7 sub-degree specializations. It is proud of
its high-quality graduate programs delivered in both face-to-face and online formats. Its programs are characterized by
a strong learner focus, flexibility, technological innovation, and responsiveness to community desire for accreditation,
certification, lifelong learning, and rigorous scholarship.


Position Requirements

Educational Research: Desired qualifications include a completed doctorate in education or a related area, evidence of
successful teaching and leadership experience in school, university, or workplace settings, demonstrated experience in
online/distance education, and capacity to work effectively in a collaborative culture. Knowledge and understanding of
the graduate programs and specializations in the Faculty of Education, will also be considered as assets for these posi-
tions.

Educational Psychology: Educational Psychology consists of Educational Studies in Counselling Psychology and Educa-
tional Studies in School and Applied Psychology. Desired qualifications include a completed doctorate in psychology or
a related field, registration as a psychologist, evidence of successful teaching and leadership experience in workplace,
university or school settings, demonstrated experience in online/distance education for courses delivered online or in a
blended format, and capacity to work effectively in a collaborative culture. Knowledge and understanding of the pro-
grams and specializations of these areas in Psychology will also be considered as assets for these positions.

Educational Research: Applicants must submit a cover letter, up-to-date curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effective-
ness, and three written letters of reference addressed to Dr. Sharon Friesen, Associate Dean, Graduate Programs.

Educational Psychology: Applicants must submit a cover letter providing evidence of teaching effectiveness, an up-to-
date curriculum vitae, and three written letters of reference to Dr. Sharon Cairns, Chair for Counselling Psychology, or Dr.
Jac Andrews, Chair for School and Applied Child Psychology.
