Scope of Position

Oxfam Australia is one of Australia’s largest independent non government organisations focussing
on international aid and development. The Public Engagement directorate mobilizes, fundraises
and engages the Australian public, donors, policy makers and opinion formers to support Oxfam
Australia’s programs, advocacy and campaigning.

The Fundraising department is responsible for a range of income streams and opportunities for
the Australian community to financially support the work of Oxfam Australia through individual
donations, sponsorship, corporate support, events, legacies, grants and trusts.

The Head of Corporate Supporters, Major Gifts and Trust and Foundations is responsible for
Oxfam Australia’s community income raised through national events, sponsorship, major gifts,
corporate partners, major supporters, trusts and foundations.


1.      Key Responsibilities

1.1.    To plan, manage and deliver an integrated fundraising plan to raise fundraising income
        through national events, sponsorship, major gifts, corporate organisations and trusts and
        foundations

1.2.    Responsible and accountable for income and expenditure budgets within the national
        events, major gifts and corporate events teams.

1.3.    To plan, manage and deliver an account management and stewardship program with
        targets to maximise income through existing and new corporate supporters, trusts and
        foundations and major gift donors.

1.4.    To plan, manage and deliver a program of funding applications to trusts and foundations
        in accordance with organisational priorities, timetables and application criteria.

1.5.    Responsible for ensuring business plans are developed and executed for areas of
        responsibility linked to organisatisational priorities.

1.6.    Responsible for ensuring organisation standards, policies and statutory requirements are
        upheld in area of delegation, including Oxfam Australia’s Brand and volunteering
        requirements

1.7.    Responsible and accountable for ensuring effective risk management plans are in place
        for major gifts and events.

1.8.    Other related duties as delegated

2.      Budget
2.1     Responsible for supporting the Associate Director of Fundraising to develop, monitor,
        evaluate and deliver an annual income and expenditure fundraising budget.
2.2     Responsible and accountable for annual income and expenditure budgets within national
        events, sponsorship, major donors, corporate organisations and trusts and foundations.

3.      Policy
3.1     Accountable for ensuring the effective implementation, management and monitoring of
        organisational policies within areas of delegation.
3.2     Support the development and monitoring of fundraising policies.

4.      Human Resources
4.1     Lead and manage a fundraising team across national events, major supporters, corporate
        organisations and trusts and foundations.
4.2     To ensure good human resource practice and comply with agency policies and
        procedures.
4.3     Ensure fundriaisng teams follow best practice volunteer management, and comply with
        organisational policy and legislative requirements with respect to volunteers.
4.4     Implement and monitor equity, diversity, child safe and staff health and wellbeing policies
        and procedures within areas of delegation.
4.5     Monitor workloads and work environment for self and for staff under management and
        take reasonable steps to minimise risks to self and others.

5.      Knowledge & Experience

5.1     Extensive and demonstrable experience of planning and delivering fundraising plans
        across multiple fundraising streams, particularly in national events, major supporters,
        corporate organisations and/or trusts and foundations.
5.2     Extensive and demonstrable experience of planning, identifying and utilising market
        intelligence to achieve fundraising income.
5.3     Demonstrable experience of successful account management, stewardship and
        stakeholder engagement plans to achieve a fundriaisng income.
5.4     Proven and demonstrable experience in leading teams to achieve a fundraising income.
5.5     Experience in strategic planning, budget development and financial management.
5.6     Knowledge of the Australian charitable environment and philanthropy trends.
5.7     High levels of computer literacy.

6.      Skills & Personal Attributes
Essential Skills - skills of a high order are required in the following areas:

        income.

7.   Travel and other requirements of the job
     Interstate travel is a requirement of the position and some overseas travel may be
     required.
     Availability to work flexible hours including occasional weekend work is a requirement of
     this position.
     It is a condition of employment that staff abide by all agency security and safety protocols,
     policies and procedures and the Oxfam International Security Protocol.

8.   Salary Details (Category 2Enhanced, applicable pro rata for parttime positions)
     The current base salary applicable on commencement is $92,130 per annum which
     provides a total remuneration package of $103,510 comprising base salary, company
     superannuation contributions and leave loading – additionally staff are eligible to
     participate in our salary packaging scheme.
     Oxfam Australia has a system of salary increments paid on the basis of achievement of
     agreed criteria and periods of service. The current base salary for this position at the
     highest increment level is $105,442.
