Product Launch Announcement Converged Systems Division Beginning on May 5, 2003, Avaya expects to start shipping new and upgrade orders with Release 1.3 of Avaya™ Communication Manager (formerly known as Avaya MultiVantage™ Software). Other new products or changes are also being introduced on or soon after May, 2003. Promoting the MultiVantage name to a solution level used to describe all Avaya applications, will result in a name for the call processing software. The new name for the call processing software is Avaya Communication Manager. Please refrain from using MultiVantage when referring to previous releases of call processing software such as 1.1 and 1.2. Instead use Avaya Communication Manager Release 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3. Page 5 of 11 Avaya G700 Media Gateways With MultiVantage 1.3, Avaya will introduce a new G700 Media Gateway which allows up to 4 analog media modules and 15 touch-tone detectors for Communication Manager 1.3 systems. Additionally, it can be stacked with the old G700 Media Gateways. This will have a new comcode 700259898 replacing the existing comcode 700018534. Avaya MCC1/SCC1 Media Gateways Power Supply Changes All configured and Fixed BOM power units on the SCC/ESCC are targeted for a running change in April 2003. Functionality will be the same. Power Unit 1217A will be replaced by Power Unit 1217B with the new comcode 700245012. Avaya IP Telephones Communication Manager release 1.3 supports firmware version 1.8 for the 4606, 4612, 4624, 4620, 4630 IP Telephones and version 1.7 for the 4602 IP Telephone. You can obtain the latest version of the firmware by going to the Avaya Web site at: http://www.avaya.com/support/ For the 4620 IP Telephone, the new version will support German, Dutch and Brazilian Portuguese user interfaces. The system is certified to work with access points provided by major vendors. This would mean that every S8100, S8300 S8700, R, SI, CSI Server will receive the same kit. Documentation is provided at no cost to the end-user who purchases a new system or upgrades from a previous release. Below is a summary of the general changes to documentation as well the documentation that will be included with Release 1.3. All customers purchasing new and upgrades of DEFINITY Servers, S8700, S8300 and Formatted: Bullets and Numbering S8100 Media Servers will receive as an entitlement a documentation kit via material code 175409. This material code will include one comcode that includes (3) CD- ROMs containing the Library of documents and the Little Instruction Booklets (for details see below). Distributors will need to order and stock the documentation kits to support existing inventory and all new systems. Distributors will need to discard the old “Getting Started” documents and replenish with the new.
