MEETING DATE:           June 5, 2012

GEERAL PTA MEETING CALLED TO ORDER:                      7:15 pm

SECRETARYS REPORT:               The minutes of previous meeting were read and approved as presented.

TREASURER’S REPORTS: There was a motion to dispense of the reading of the treasurer’s report.

• We would like to thank all the members who donated to the Sunshine Fund.

CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED:

• Thank you cards were received from Miss Bosset, Mrs. Cummings, Mrs. Partington, Ms Casale, Mrs. Dolsky,
Mrs. Snellings, Mrs. Seib, Mrs. Kimball, Mrs. Metzger, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Levinson and the entire Knollwood
staff for a wonderful teacher appreciation week. Everyone enjoyed the luncheon and appreciated the goodies
left in their mailboxes every day.

• Thank you cards were received from Ms. Metzger’s and Mrs. Smith’s kindergarten classes for the beautiful
flowers and for letting them plant them in front of our school.

• Thank you card was received from Bobby Wilson, a fifth grader at Knollwood School for the band camp
scholarship.

• Thank you card was received from Ms. Raymond for the gift card for Principal’s Day.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Room Parents: (Stephanie Alleyne)- emails were sent to room parents for the end of the year party and for them
to submit their check request on or before June 15 in order for them to receive their check before the end of the
school year.

Ways & Means:
    Market Day: (Tracy Figueroa & 4th Grade class)_NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR June 14th & July 12th

        Please turn to the proposed PTA standard gifting breakdown that our treasurer, Jackie Wellman has
        prepared for the 2012-2013 school year…

        May I have a motion to gift each of our standard programs for the 2012-2013 school year.

              $1500.00-US Map Stenciling Activity, presenter Jeff Keith will engage 4th grade students in
               stenciling the US on the blacktop by the playground that will add a lasting instructional tool for
               all Knollwood students.

               additional amount over the previous amount that we can afford)

Mr. Bruno & Mrs. Miele (ESL)

              $480.00-Teacher Presentations for International Day, when teachers "host" students in their
               classroom they offer a craft and "goodies" for each visitor. This money would be divided
               among 16 teachers to equal $30.00 each. This is in addition to the $100.00 that we give in
               standard gifting.

Mrs. Allocca (NURSE)

              $550-$600.00-Recovery Couch "Cott", the current cott is old with holes and beginning to fall
               apart.

Mrs. Dolsky (BASIC SKILLS MATH)

              $50.00-Presentation Boards & rubber cement for Pride in Our Schools where students' work
               will be displayed at the Rockaway Mall in March 2013

Mr. Pettinelli (BAND)

              $300-$400.00-New CD Player System, the current portable CD sound system is over 15 years
               old and is obsolete. a new system is needed to be compatible with ipod & MP3 for use in
               school functions such as plays, ceremonies, concerts, etc. This system can also be useful for
               drama plays.

        Mrs. Levinson (READING SPECIALIST)
            $1800.00-Storyteller for Read Across America. Peninnah Schram, a storyteller and author from
               NYC will spend a full day at our school with Knollwood students of every grade.

Business at Hand:

     PLEASE make every effort to hand in your receipts with a check request form in order to be reimbursed
      for your PTA expenses, to the PTA treasurer (Jackie Wellman) by FRIDAY, JUNE 15, 2012, so that she
      is able to process them and get you a check before the end of the school year.

     The 50th Anniversary of the Knollwood PTA is coming up in September 2012. Some ideas that have
      been thrown around are a sit down dinner or a fun fair. A committee will be needed to make this event
      possible. October 15 2012 was set a possible date for the celebrations of Knollwood PTA anniversary

    Volunteers will be needed for the teacher’s welcome back breakfast on September 5th.

    Thank you to Michele Cattani & all who helped make this year’s teacher appreciation week special! The
     luncheon was well received and the teachers loved their gifts!

    Thank you to Nick & Gail Aemisegeo, their family members, Holly Cordasco, Jim Price, Ms. Raymond
     and all who came out to work on the Beautification of Knollwood’s School grounds on 5/20! The school
     looks so beautiful & inviting now, thanks to your efforts!

    Thank you to Mary Weber & all who helped make Kindergarten Orientation run smoothly.

    Thank you to all parents who helped out with field day, end of year parties, as well as those who have
     served on committees throughout the schoolyear! Your help is invaluable to our school!

    A BIG thank you to our 5th grade parents who went above & beyond this year and raised money, not
     only to benefit their 5th grade children but to benefit ALL the students of Knollwood. For those parents
     who will be moving on to Central, you will be greatly missed and we cannot thank you enough for all
     you have done for the children of Knollwood School.

I’d like to thank all of you for coming to share this last PTA dinner meeting of the school year & for all the time
& effort you put forth throughout the whole school year to ensure the PTA runs smoothly . I hope to see you at
