List of Columbus Acronyms & Abbreviations

Introduction
Note: The following list has not been extensively maintained in several years, and is therefore
considerably out-of-date. It will be updated throughout the Study Phase, however.
The following List is an unofficial compilation of Columbus, Space Station, ATV and Columbus
Control Center Acronyms and Abbreviations that have been compiled from related documentation.
(In addition, a few terms associated with past Spacelab Missions have been included, generally when
the item has appeared in an MSCC facility requirements document, such as the BDRD. Also, selected
technical terms have been included where considered appropriate.) It is intended solely to provide
personnel associated with these projects with a convenient reference, and does not purport to be a
definitive control document. Some effort has been made to indicate currency of terms, but only
infrequently. Likewise, some acronyms appearing in the documents have been left out for rather
subjective reasons.
The documents from which this List has been derived are partially listed at the end of this reference,
and this reference has been included with the acronym to aid in correlating the terms to the documents.
It has been added recently, however, and does not extend to the terms that were compiled earlier. It is
foreseen that a future upgrade will convert this document into a database format which will support
interactive searches, compilation, filtering, etc. and easier data entry.
Due to the dynamic nature of acronyms, this List can not be fully comprehensive, nor completely up-
to-date. It will be revised and reissued, however. to reflect significant new acronyms and
abbreviations. For this reason, inputs (additions, corrections and requests for newer versions) are
welcome, and may be forwarded to:
