                                        Recital Information
Costume Week at the Studio:
This year we are running a costume week at the studio to ensure costumes, hair, shoes, and
makeup are correct before the show. All dancers are required to wear their costume, show hair,
show makeup, show tights, and show shoes during their regular class time the week of May 19-
24. Failure to ware any part of your show attire will prohibit you from being in the production.
We are having costume week so that we may spend more time using the stage at Rehearsal
instead of spending rehearsal changing our costumes and risking damage to tights, shoes, and
costumes.
Rehearsal at the Meyer Middle School, River Falls, WI:
    All dancers are to wear tights and leotards with hair in performance bun to the production
    rehearsal at the Meyer Middle School. NO COSTUMES!
    This year we have two shows to find out which show your child is dancing in please watch
    for the Recital Line Up to be handed out shortly. Both Recitals are on Saturday May 31st.
    Show #1 1pm          Rehearsal Night: Thursday May 29th 4:00 – 8:00pm
    Show #2 6pm          Rehearsal Night: Friday May 30th 4:00-8:00pm

    DIRECTIONS to Theater per map quest:
    Merge onto I-94 E / US-12 E / WI-35 S via the ramp on the LEFT.
    Merge onto WI-35 S via EXIT 3 toward RIVER FALLS
    Turn LEFT to take the CR-M ramp.
    Turn RIGHT onto CR-M
    Turn LEFT onto 9TH ST.
    Turn LEFT onto E CEDAR ST.
    Turn RIGHT onto N 9TH ST.
    End at 230 N 9th St
    River Falls, WI 54022-2568, US

ATTENTION COMPETTION LINES: Each member of the competition dance teams needs to bring 2 dozen
individually wrapped cookies or bars to the Friday evening rehearsal.

Dress rehearsal will officially start at 4:30pm each night. See the recital line up to see when your dancer has rehearsal.

No Food, beverages, or flash photography allowed in the theater. Failure to follow this policy and your dancer will be
asked to leave and not perform in the show. These are the schools rules and as guests we must follow them.

We will run the rehearsal as fast as possible all dancers are required to stay for the finale at the of practice. All dancers are
excused when the finale is over. No Exceptions. If your dancer is not there for rehearsal they will not know what is going
on and disrupt all the other dancers, rehearsal is only from 4-8:30 please be respectful of all the dancers.

It is very important that everyone matches, hair, make up, and tights. Tights need to be purchased directly from the studio.
Hair should be pulled up in a bun with no bangs….unless otherwise noted. Absolutely no underwear is to be worn during
the recital…that is what tights are for! Please sew all parts on costumes - no safety pins please. If pants are to long please
have them hemmed. All costumes need to have straps and skirts attached with thread no safety pins allowed on stage for
the safety of our dancers. If you have questions on where things need to be attached please stop by the front desk and we
will be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Parents are more than welcome to watch the rehearsal and take non flash pictures, No Video Cameras allowed.
Beverages and Food are not permitted in the Meyer Auditorium. We ask that dancers and siblings do not run around the
auditorium for the safety of everyone!


STAGE HAIR: All dancers are to wear tight straight back buns unless otherwise noted to your class. This gives all the
dancers a uniform and professional dancer look. No Bangs: when dancers have bangs we cannot see their fabulous eyes
from the audience.

STAGE MAKE UP - Grey Eye Shadow, STAY CURRANT – Color Stay Lip Stick, black mascara, and black eyeliner.
Parents do have the right to put the amount of makeup on there dancer they are comfortable with.

STAGE SHOES:
Ballet Class: Pink Leather Ballet Slippers – Brand Revolution
Tap: Tan Tap Shoes – Brand Revolution
Jazz: Tan jazz booties – Brand Revolution
Hip Hop – Black Hip Hop Shoes – Brand Revolution
Ann Marie’s Adv Jazz – Black Jazz shoes (competition line members Black T-strap)

Your shoes from class should be the correct shoes unless you purchased them from somewhere else. We only allow the
Revolution brand on stage so the tights match correctly, and everyone is uniform.

STAGE TIGHTS: Unless otherwise noted to your class
All tights can be purchased directly from H.D.A. Child Sizes $9.50 Adult Sizes $11.50
We recommend everyone have at least two pairs of tights incase of runs or holes.

Jazz: Full Footed Dark Tan Revolution Tights
Ann Marie- Hip Hop - : Full Footed Dark Tan Revolution Tights

Ann Marie Jazz Thurs 16-18 yr olds: Full Footed Dark Tan Tights with Rhinestoned Fish Nets and Black Jazz Shoes.

ATTENTION NO UNDERWEAR ALLOWED WITH TIGHTS AND COSTUMES:
UNDERWEAR ON STAGE LOOKS TACKY AND VERY BAD. IF A DANCER HAS UNDERWEAR
ON WITH COSTUMES THEY WILL BE ASKED TO TAKE IT OFF AND RISK MISSING THE
PERFORMANCE!

Recital Pictures: April 26th (please note the date difference their was a typo on our winter newsletter)
Location: Hudson Dance Academy
This Year our Recital Pictures will be taken by Berards and pictures will be handed out by Berards during our first dress
rehearsal to ensure everything is processed correctly and to answer any questions you may have. Berards does an amazing
job with our Recital pictures, they will be happy to answer any questions you may have during picture day. We ask that
dancers come 10 minutes early to fill out forms, and they must come ready in costume, hair, and makeup. Parents are to
stay in the lobby and may view from the window. No PARENTS are allowed in the photo shoot, this causes chaos and
confusion, and then we all get behind on the schedule.

Recital DVD’s: This year Alion Design will be recording our shows. They are a very professional company out of Rice
Lake and have quality DVD’s, they stand behind their product if a problem shall arise. Each DVD is $28.00 if you order
two DVD’s you save $5.00. All DVD’s are mailed directly to your home with in 6-8 weeks of the Recital. If you would
like to see a sample of their work stop by the front desk and take a look they did our annual production of The
NUTCRACKER and did a fabulous job! Order Forms are attached to this packet!
Saturday May 31st 1pm Show
   The Recital will be held at the Meyer Middle School in River Falls. We will be having two shows this year because
   the auditorium seats more than last year.

   Dancers need to arrive ready to go one hour prior to the show. The dressing room is located down the hall to the right
   of the auditorium in the Choir Room. Parents and Dancers will be greeted by our hall monitor that will direct the
   dancers to the dressing room. Parents may drop off children but must not stay in dressing room. Hudson Dance will
   supply volunteers to help with costumes, bathroom trips, and supervision while the show is going on. We do
   recommend that younger students bring activities and blankets to do while back stage. We will be piping the show
   back to the dressing room for the dancers to watch. The show will run approximately 2 hours. This year we would
   like all dancers to stay behind stage in the dressing room, we will have parent volunteers to help with the young
   children. No Children in the auditorium in costume. (Please note all dancers must be in the dressing room).

   The doors for the 1pm show will open at 12:30 for seating No one may enter prior to 12:30. We will be running stage
   tests. The only reserved seats will be for the H.D.A Family and for the studio DVD recording.
   If you have a grandparent or elder that needs special seating please see Keri accommodations can be made.

   During the 1pm show we will be having a special presentation and recognizing our competition dance teams and
   teachers and assistant teachers.

   NEW THIS YEAR: All dancers will exit the stage and return to the dressing room. One parent must come to the
   dressing room and pick up there dancer.

   Saturday May 31 6:00 pm show

    RECITAL TICKETS:
    Tickets to the recital are $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Everyone will need a ticket to enter the recital.
    Tickets will be available starting April 1st at the front desk or over the phone, phone orders are subject to a $5.00
    processing and postage fee and will mail directly to your home. Visa and MasterCard’s are accepted with a $3.00
    processing fee. Seating is limited so please plan a head. If tickets are still available the night of the recital we will
    have them for sale at the door for $10.00 each. Get your tickets early last year we sold out and we did our best to find
    extra seats for everyone but some people were not allowed to see the show due to a large crowd and fire safety rules
    and regulations. GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY to avoid not seeing your dancer. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES
    FOR TICKETS PURCHASED!


   To make this another great recital for the dancers we need some volunteers for the following duties: Each
   volunteer gets one free ticket. Free tickets will given out during Mandatory Volunteer meeting.
   Selling Tickets 1 person per show (before show)
   Taking Tickets and handing out programs 4 people per show (before show)
   Bake sale 6 people per show (before show, intermission, and after show)
   Hall Monitor – 1 per show (before, during, and after show)
   Dressing room helper – 3 per show (before, during, and after)

    All volunteers need to attend a meeting on May 27th 6pm at the studio for duties and volunteer badges.

    We also need helpers to load and unload the truck on Friday and Saturday. Friday Morning 11 am at H.D.A. to load
    and Saturday evening after the performance we need help loading at the auditorium and unloading at H.D.A. We did
    this with the Nutcracker production and it really went fast and smooth.

    NO DANCE May 26-27. RECITAL WEEK!
Annual Recital Roses and Souvenirs:
Roses individually wrapped in clear cellophane and tied with red ribbon will be available at our dance boutique for $4.00
each. You may pre purchase your roses for quick pick up by using our order form attached to this packet.

We will again have a full boutique filled with H.D.A. Tank tops, shorts, sweatshirts, ballet frames, ballet dancers, and
more dance gifts. Stop by the boutique and check out the cool dance items for sale! These make great gifts for all your
dancers and most items are under $10.00.

The dancers have done an excellent job this year and the recital is a way for them to share their hard work, progress,
talent, and love for dance. Thank you for making this year a fantastic dance year! It’s not too late to register for Summer

                                   Recital T-Shirts for Finale

   This year we are asking that each dancer purchase a Recital Dancing Under The Stars T-shirt to be worn at
   the Finale. This is a really great look for the finale; we will all be the same. T-Shirts, Black Dance Pants,
   and your choice of dance shoe.


   A sample of the shirt will be hanging in the lobby so you may see and feel what it will look like. There is a
   girls/women’s shirt and a boys/men’s shirt.

   Recital T-Shirt order forms will be due by April 1st. You must fill out a sheet or your dancer will not be
   ordered a shirt and will not be allowed to dance in the whole recital. Extras will not be ordered!
