Prophetic Dimensions Module: Introduction & Assessment Session date: 31.05.08 Prayer for Peace by David Silver The Hebrew word SHALOM is understood around the world to mean peace. But peace is only one small part of the meaning of the word SHALOM. Here in Israel, even though we don't have much in the way of peace, we use the word SHALOM on a daily basis. We use it to greet people with, and we use it to bid farewell to people. However, SHALOM means much more than peace, hello or goodbye. Strong's Concordance 7965 - Hebrew Shalom ..... A word study in the New King James version for SHALOM says: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom comes from the root verb Shalom meaning to be complete, perfect and full. In modern Hebrew the obviously related word Shelem means to pay for, and Shulam means to be fully paid. Sar SHALOM (Prince of Peace) is one of the descriptive names the Bible uses to indicate the ministry and personality of the Messiah: Isaiah 9:6 - The Son of God is completely perfect in all things. So in essence, when you speak out the word SHALOM - you are not only proclaiming peace, but all the above meanings of the word over that person - that's a mighty blessing!!! Remember what the word of God says - "there is life or death in the power of the tongue". Numbers 6:24-26: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His face upon you and give you SHALOM. In the name of SAR SHALOM - the Prince of Peace. "Ministry" is from the Greek word diakoneo, meaning "to serve" or douleuo, meaning "to serve as a slave." In the New Testament, ministry is seen as service to God and to other people in His name. Jesus provided the pattern for Christian ministry—He came, not to receive service, but to give it (see Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; John 13:1-17 4. Can you name the fruit of the Spirit? (Congregational Gifts) Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Why have foundation (in Christ) Eph, Foundations are associated with ho’s and buildings, the foundation is the part of the initial construction that have to be designed to withstand the load due to mass of material and occupancy and furnishings These cumulative loads must be transferred to the ground safety , this is done using an adequate and strong. Likewise our morals and values form part of our foundation of life and must be strong to withstand the storms and elements life throws at us.    Gold – Divine identity, King, Kingdom , Fatherhood Silver – Salvation (blood, Cross, Anointing) Sonship Precious Stones – Gifts & Fruit of the Spirit, Holy Spirit 2. What is the Old Man (Roms 6:6) Old Man = old life of independence, natural man. He sent His Son in the flesh, who died for sin and in doing so "condemned sin in the flesh". That is to say, He took to death representatively all that belonged to the old creation in us, whether we speak of it as `our old man', `the flesh', or the carnal `I'. Thus God struck at the very root of our trouble by removing the fundamental ground of our weakness. The Blood can wash away my sins, but it cannot wash away my `old man'. It needs the Cross to crucify me. The Blood deals with the sins, but the Cross must deal with the sinner. 3. What is the Blood for?      Forgiveness of sins & guilt 1 John 1:7, Rev 1:5 But the Blood removes that barrier and restores man to God and God to man cleansing of our conscience Hbr 10: 22 Access to God Hbr 10:19 Protection against the enemy Rev 12:10.11 So we see that objectively the Blood deals with our sins. The Lord Jesus has borne them on the Cross for us as our Substitute and has thereby obtained for us forgiveness, justification and reconciliation. Proverbs 28:13 He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy. 1. What is Justification?.9Rom 6:19,22 Means having right standing with God, it is important that we stand before the lord not on our own merits but the Lord Jesus Christ’s. It is his work and stand that makes us acceptable. The argument of the first part gathers round that aspect of the work of the Lord Jesus which is represented by `the Blood' shed for our justification through "the remission of sins" Again, peace is spoken of in both sections, in the fifth and eighth chapters. Romans 5 tells of peace with God which is the effect of justification by faith in His Blood: "Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." (5:1mg.) This means that, now that I have forgiveness of sins, God will no longer be a cause of dread and trouble to me. How then can we live a normal Christian life? How do we enter in? Well, of course, initially we must have forgiveness of sins, we must have justification, and we must have peace with God: these are our indispensable foundation. 2. What is sanctification? Hagiasmos a. consecration, purification b. 2) the effect of consecration i. sanctification of heart and life To summarize, sanctification is the same Greek word as holiness, ―hagios,‖ meaning a separation. First, a once-for-all positional separation unto Christ at our salvation. Second, a practical progressive holiness in a believer’s life while awaiting the return of Christ. Third, we will be changed into His perfect likeness—holy, sanctified, and completely separated from the presence of evil. Just as we cannot have justification if we have not seen Him bearing our sins on the Cross, so we cannot have sanctification if we have not seen Him bearing us on the Cross. Very important because many have only excepted half the truth, he die we died, if you want more information on this read ― Normal Christian Life‖ – Watchman Nee We tried to point out that, just as he had done nothing for his justification, so he need do nothing for his sanctification. We have to believe in what he has done, as we embrace the truth objectively the Holy spirit will working into our life. 3. What is reconciliation? Reconciliation also appears in the verb form (katallasso), meaning "to reconcile". It is used in the active voice in 2 Cor. 5:18 with the meaning of "reconciling someone to someone else." In this case, God reconciles us to Himself, through the Lord Jesus Christ. This verb in the passive voice means "to be reconciled" or "to become reconciled", and it is used in the case of man's relationship to God in Rom. 5:10 and 2 Cor. 5:20. The passive voice is also used in cases of reconciliation between people, as in 1 Cor. 7:11 and Matt. 5:24. Another Greek word translated "to reconcile" is (hilaskomai), meaning "to reconcile" in the sense of providing propitiation, as in Luke 18:13. It is used of the activity of the Lord Jesus Christ as High Priest in making reconciliation for His people, Heb. 2:17. (taken from Grace Notes, Warren Doud, 1705 Aggie Lane, Austin, Texas 78757 ) This means that, now that I have forgiveness of sins, God will no longer be a cause of dread and trouble to me. I who was an enemy to God have been "reconciled...through the death of his Son" (5:10). 4. What is the importance of the Cross? The Blood can wash away my sins, but it cannot wash away my `old man'. It needs the Cross to crucify me. The Blood deals with the sins, but the Cross must deal with the sinner. Then there are those who go further and see that God has included them in the death of His Son on the Cross, in order to deliver them from sin and the Law by dealing with the old man. Yes, the Cross must do its work here, reminding me that in Christ I have died to that old life of independence which I inherited from Adam, and that in resurrection I have become not just an individual believer in Christ but a member of His Body. 1. The Cross of Christ to deal with sin, the flesh and the natural man. 2. The Life of Christ is made available to indwell, re-create and empower man. 3. The Working of Death in the natural man that that indwelling Life may be progressively
