Roof Restoration Adelaide is a professional trade company specializing in roof restoration.
Roofs are constantly exposed to the elements, and because of this are subjected to significant
wear and tear. It is critical that a roof is in good order, because if it isn't, it may leak and cause
costly damage to your home. It’s best to take preventative action when it comes to roof
maintenance. We have a vast amount of experience in the roofing industry, and can perform
repairs to any type of roof. Roof Restoration Adelaide also provides a 24 hour emergency leak
fix service, should your roof leak at any time.

‘Tiled Roof Restoration’ is a term that is used to describe the process of cleaning, repairing and
re-coating a tiled roof. While contractors have been cleaning and painting roofs for the last
century, it has mainly been metal roofs that they painted. It was quite rare to paint a tiled roof.
It’s only in the last 15 years that painting tiled roofs has become common. With most tiled roofs,
however, you can’t just paint them. Most tiled roofs need a lot of preparation and repairs first.

Concrete tiles have been used as a roofing material for many years, but were rare until the
1970s. In the seventies, they became a very popular roofing material, because they were
significantly cheaper than Terracotta tiles. However, concrete tiles deteriorate much faster than
Terracotta. Hence, tiled roof restoration is a wise investment for your home if you have a
concrete tile roof older than 15 years.

A tiled roof restoration will make your home storm safe and weather proof, improve the
appearance of your home, and add to the value of your home.

Roof Restoration Adelaide Tiled Roof Restoration Process:

All cracked and broken tiles are replaced. Even the tiles with hair line cracks are replaced. The
roof is then pressure washed. This will remove all mold and lichen, and all dirt.

Next, the ridge caps are removed and re-bedded if required. If your existing bedding is even a
tiny bit loose, it will be repaired. This involves removing them, laying a new mortar bed, and
re-laying all the caps using a bedding frame to result in neat and straight lines.

All ridge caps are repointed with a polymer based flexible pointing mortar. This is trowelled
on and because it’s a flexible mortar, will not crack with the normal movement of your home,
such as the expansion and contraction from heat and cold.

Then, a sealer / primer coat is applied to the entire roof. This seals the roof, and because it
etches into the surface of the tile, acts as a base coat, providing maximum adhesion. This coat is
sprayed on with an airless paint machine.

Two or more acrylic membrane coats are then applied in the colour of your choice. The acrylic
membrane coats are very thick in consistency and form a protective membrane for your roof.
Offered in your choice of over 30 colors, this will greatly improve the appearance of your entire
home. Either the owner of the business or the quality control manager will inspect your roof.

Roof Restoration Adelaide also restores Terracotta tiled roofs. While these tiles do not
deteriorate like concrete tiles, they still need maintenance; and if you have a Terracotta roof, you
can certainly benefit from a roof restoration.

The process for Terracotta tiled roof restoration is:

   Broken tiles are replaced.

A strong mould killer is applied to the entire roof.

The roof is then pressure washed.

Ridge caps are removed and re-bedded if required.

All ridge caps are repointed with a polymer based flexible pointing mortar.

2 coats of Terracotta glaze are then applied to the entire roof.

Lastly, Quality Control Inspection is performed.

When completed properly, and good quality coatings are used, it should be at least 15 years
until the process needs to be performed again.
