This is a presentation on solar energy. It talks about Recurrent Energy and how they just go the funding to open a fourth solar unit in Sacramento, CA. Both Google and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts invested in these solar panels.
Recurrent Energy Opens Fourth Solar Plant in Sacramento, CA An Overview of Recurrent Energy’s Fourth Solar Plant and Solar Power Recurrent Energy • It was just recently announced that Recurrent Energy is adding another 38-megawatt solar farm to the Sacramento, California area. This solar unit will be under a 20-year contract. Amazingly, all four of the solar unites is enough to power 13,000 homes. • Google Inc. (GOOG) and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) made equity investments in the four power plants in December 2011, which is a big part of why they were able to be built. About Recurrent Energy • According to their website, Recurrent Energy “is a leading solar project developer and generating company providing clean electricity to utilities and large energy buyers.” • They have installed solar panels all over the world, including Spain, Ontario, and Arizona. What is Solar Power? • Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. This happens by either using photovoltaics directly or using concentrated solar power indirectly. • Most use lenses or mirrors which stay in the same area and create energy off of the light that bounces. Photovoltaics convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. References • Recurrent Energy • Solar Power • Google • Kohlberg Kravis Roberts
