                                   Part 2
1. Using the desktop computer, create the following files.
      a. A Word flyer announcing the Prom and including the following information:
               .   Date: May 3rd
               .   Time: 8 pm-Midnight
               .   Location: Memorial Hall
               .   Cost: $50 per couple
               .   Include 2 graphics and use decorative fonts.
               .   Save the file as “yourName prom.”
      b. An Excel spreadsheet with the following information:

               Investment                 Market Value              Cost

               Common Stocks              $ 1,954,983           $1,321,964

               Long-term Bonds            $   945,000           $1,004,351

               Short-term Bonds           $   236,982           $ 212,956

               Preferred Stocks           $ 1,245,925           $1,323,007

             • Fill the first row of information with a light green color.
             • Format the cells with numbers as currency with 0 decimal places.
             • Save the file as “yourName investment.”
2. Transfer the files to the Pocket PC.
3. Open the Word file on the Pocket PC.
      a. What changes were made to the file?




      b. Is the new file as good as the other? Why or why not?



      c. Add in some text, and save the file.

4. Open the Excel file on the Pocket PC.
      a. What changes were made to the file?



      b. Is the new file as good as the other? Why or why not?



5. Add in a new row and insert the information below. Save the file after the changes.

6. Sync the PDA with the desktop.

7. Open your modified Word file on the desktop computer. (Hint – use the ActiveSync
   Explore menu).
      a. How does your file look now?
      b. Do the pictures look normal again?
      c. Print a copy of this modified file as well as your original file.
8. Open your modified Excel file on the desktop computer.
      a. How does your file look now?
      b. Did the colors return?
      c. Print a copy of this modified file as well as your original file.

In Word (on the desktop!), type your answers to the following questions. Print
out and turn in with your other materials. Each answer should be at least two
paragraphs with proper grammar and spelling.

9. In your own opinion, what are the biggest differences in using Word and Excel on
   the desktop versus the Pocket PC? How useful is the Pocket PC version? Do you
   think that many people really use it?

10. How would YOU use the two different versions of Word and Excel right now as a
    student? Would you use one more than the other? What would be your reasons for
    doing so?

11. Do you think you would purchase a Pocket PC (assuming you had the money)?
    What would be your primary use of it? Would you carry it with you everywhere?
    How would you use it on a daily basis?

12. Research online and find accessories for the particular PDA you are using. Write
    down 2 that you would like to have and why. Include where they can be purchased
    and the prices of each.
