Knology of Knoxville is proud to announce their partnership with KidsFACT, a group dedicated to making strides towards an improved quality of life for those with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, including both Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and to advancing knowledge in order to contribute to better treatments and ultimately a cure. KidsFACT supports and promotes these endeavors through education, family support, and research. This year the hope is that your generosity will help fund a camp for the children suffering from these diseases and provide them an opportunity they might not otherwise be able to participate in. KidsFACT is a non-profit group founded by Dr. Youhanna Al-Tawil and GI for Kids of East Tennessee Children’s Hospital of Knoxville (ETCH). Nine-year-old Jordanne Clabo was diagnosed with the inflammatory bowel disease known as Crohn’s in November of 2003. She is currently on twenty-plus prescriptions and supplements a day and receives supplemental nutrition through a nasal feeding tube. Her family was challenged even further when her now eight-year-old brother Jacob was diagnosed with Crohn’s in July 2004. Medical, nutritional and hospital costs have placed an extreme hardship on the Clabo family. No parent should ever know the cost of a 49-day stay at ETCH; be it physically, emotionally but especially financially. This annual event raises awareness in more than 6 states and 2 time zones. Teams for the tournament come from as far away as Atlanta and Nashville. Some even " up the ante a little" for a chance to play with radio personality PHIL WILLIAMS of WNOX 'S "THE PHIL SHOW".
