(meeting sponsored by Amgen & Prostrakan)
A FREE Study Day for Health Professionals
Date: Wednesday 14th November Time: 12:00 - 17:00 (Sandwich lunch will be provided)
Venue: Postgraduate Centre, New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton
Who is the Study Day for?
The programme is designed to engage all health professionals who deal with people with or at risk of osteoporosis
and/or fragility fractures including: primary and secondary care doctors, practice nurses, nurse advisors, pharmacists,
radiographers and the community falls team.
CPD credits will be applied for from the Royal College of Physicians and four credits are likely to be awarded for
attendance at this event.
Why target osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis causes fragile bones, which can lead to painful and disabling fractures, particularly in the hip and spine.
1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will break a bone, mainly because of poor bone health.
Almost three million people in the UK are estimated to have osteoporosis. There are more than 300,000 fragility
fractures every year, including 70,000 hip fractures. Ten percent of people suffering a hip fracture die within 30 days
and 30 per cent will be dead within a year.
