Dear ,

Quispamsis Elementary School was officially designated a Community School in January, 2008. This designation pairs local
businesses and organizations with different operational aspects of Quispamsis Elementary School. Today, as a result of the
program, our students have established relationships with seniors from Parkland in the Valley, planted flowers in the Arts and
Cultural Park under the guidance of the Town of Quispamsis’ horticulturalist, and benefited in numerous ways from our
generous community partnerships with Dairy Queen, Kings Valley Wesleyan Church and Kids Zone Day Care Centers. The
QES Home and School and Parent School Support Community would like to reach out to our community partners and
neighbours to help us make significant improvements to our school yard and playground. As these are not the responsibility of
the Department of Education, and do not receive provincial funding, we need your help. It is our feeling that these
improvements will provide our students and local residents a place to use for both leisure and educational purposes.

The committee has identified three phases for the Quispamsis Elementary School Community Play Place project:

Phase 1: Enlarged Playing Field and Creation of Multipurpose Courts
The field area is very small and must serve the needs of 480 students. As well, the drainage is poor, resulting in muddy
conditions, holes and ruts. A larger field and designated asphalt court will allow for organized school and community activities
on safe playing surfaces. Preliminary cost estimates for this phase are $123,700.00. Our goal is to begin this work in the spring.

Phase 2: Landscaped Seating Area
The creation of a green belt will divide the play equipment area from the field area. Currently, we have a deep culvert, formed
by water run-off, running through this area; this will be filled in during this phase. Benches for seating under the shade of trees
will provide both a zone for an outdoor classroom and an inviting location for students and families to sit while watching those at
play. Preliminary cost estimates for this phase are $34,200.00. Our goal will be to complete this phase as soon as funding can be
secured.

Phase 3: Play Equipment
This phase of the project involves the relocation of existing equipment and the replacement and purchase of new play equipment.
The last play equipment purchased was in 2003. Since that time, our school enrolment has increased by 130 students. School
administration has created a divided lunch hour to give students equal time on the play equipment and equal space to run and
participate in field activities. Preliminary cost estimates for this phase are $113,500.00. Our goal is to have the entire project
completed by 2014.

Over the last twelve months, the students and parents of Quispamsis Elementary have financially supported this initiative
through fundraising. The total raised to date is $26,000.00, including a $5000.00 donation from the Town of Quispamsis and
$3000.00 of donations “in-kind”. We are now asking businesses in the Kennebecasis Valley, Saint John and, the surrounding
area for financial support, either through a donation of cash, materials or services in-kind. Work will not move ahead this spring
without the help of organizations like yours. Please take time to consider the benefits of your help. Any and all contributions are
welcomed! Tax receipts will be given for any donation over $25.00 and your company name will be permanently
recognized at the site.

This cause needs your support today. For additional information, or to make a donation, please contact either of the undersigned
at your earliest convenience.

Thank you, and best regards.
