Action:
The Kings County District Attorney’s Office, located in the Metrotech area of Brooklyn,
is seeking candidates for an administrative-level position in its Human Resources
Department. Candidates must have the knowledge, skills and abilities to fully support
HR’s mission to provide “best in class” HR support to KCDA legal, non legal,
administrative and executive staff.


Position:              Functional title:      Human Resources Associate
                       Civil Service Title:   Community Associate

Position Summary:
Reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resources Associate position is a hands-on
role with the primary responsibility to support day-to-day HR operations. Responsible for
assisting the administration of human resources plans, procedures and programs for the
DA’s Office legal, non-legal, administrative and executive staff.

Responsibilities/Duties:

HR Coordinator for Internship/Pro bono Programs (high school, college, law interns and
pro bono attorneys)
       Fully support all phases of Internship/Pro bono Programs including on boarding, evaluation
          and exit processes, and managing HR information systems and database/shared drive
          management
       Partner and communicate regularly with managers, supervisors, and executives,
          throughout the cyclical phases of on boarding, evaluations, reporting and exits
       Prepare, manage and maintain up to date reports for HR and executive management

New Hire Processes
       Fully support new hire appointment process including preparing and distributing new hire
          welcome email, new hire internal memoranda, communicating and following through on
          the Tasks and Standards and probationary review processes, setting up accurate and
          complete HR files fully compliant with Federal, State and City wide employment laws and
          regulations including, but not limited to, EEO and Employment Eligibility Verification (I9)
          forms and associated processes
       Prepare, schedule and deliver New Hire orientation sessions on employee benefits and
          retirement programs including medical, life insurance, short and long term disability,
          deferred compensation, NYCERS, union/management fund benefits, and city time and
          leave regulations for support and legal staff. Clearly and accurately communicate KCDA
          office policies, procedures and rules of conduct.
       Schedule new hire swearing in appointments at the County Clerk’s Office
       Prepare and schedule quarterly Employee Information/EEO sessions
       Prepare and maintain up-to-date New Hire reports for HR and executive management
       Evaluate the timeliness, completeness, accuracy and satisfaction levels of the new hire
          process
       Support KCDA employees in the NYC Employee Self Service platform
       HR Associate’s Individual Role
        Participates in HR meetings and actively contributes to HR’s short term and long-term
          work plans, goals and objectives
        Fully cross trains in additional HR roles as required
        Performs other related duties and projects as required and assigned

Education/Experience
The HR Associate position is open to non-legal staff employed in the DA’s Office for at least
two years and in their current assignment for at least one year.

A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in HR Management or a closely allied discipline and 2 years
of experience in a human resources environment and/or an administrative role.

PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Working knowledge of NYC administrative policies and procedures, applicable federal
regulations such as FMLA, as well as employee NYC and union benefits programs
preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft WORD, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

Experience in using and navigating COGNOS and DOS based databases and applications; working
knowledge of NYCAPS, CHRMS, PRISE/E-Certs, and KCDA HRIS preferred.

Strong administrative and project management skills

Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to prioritize and multi-task

Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines

Experience in handling sensitive, confidential information

Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

Excellent customer service skills

Salary:            Salary commensurate with experience/$37,169 minimum

    Under the supervision of the Director of Purchasing, the Purchasing Assistant is responsible
      for procuring goods and services for the Bronx District Attorney.
    Assist the Director of Purchasing on all aspects of the purchasing process, with an emphasis
      on maintaining a sufficient, dependable supply of all basic items included in the Office’s
      standard supply inventory.
    Effectively resolves order difficulties with vendors and negotiates and provides clarification
      to vendors on terms and conditions of contracts, as necessary.
    Promptly responds to approved purchase requests with appropriate orders, obtaining a clear,
      actionable understanding of staff needs.
    Prepare, review and distribute vendor pre-solicitations and bid specifications, working with
      the Director to ensure that the office needs are satisfied and that purchases comply with
      applicable regulations.
    Periodically assist the Fleet Coordinator with his duties.
    Participates in annual inventory review, including preparing the count and pricing of current
      stock.
    Perform other tasks as assigned.

 have a background in debriefing defendants, with the focus on cultivating sources of information. The applicant
 should also possess a working knowledge of electronic investigative equipment such as the plate reader, lojack
 tracking device, mobile digital terminals, and surveillance photographic equipment. It is preferred that
 applicants have knowledge and experience with the court system and trials. The ability to assist in preparation
 of cases and testify effectively in court.
 Note: Due to the necessary service needs of this position, incumbents may be required to work nights,
 weekends and holidays.

 JOB DESCRIPTION:
    Follow up with Bronx Law Enforcement including Bronx Special Victims Squad, Local Bronx Hospitals and
      Bronx Medical Examiner’s office in regards to alleged child abuse cases including but not limited to child
      fatalities, physical and sexual abuse cases obtained from ACS.
    Provide Child Advocacy Centers and Hospital Based Programs with information regarding the status of Joint
      Interviews when Assistant DA’s were present on a monthly basis.
    Obtain Medical records, autopsy reports and Police paperwork for all child fatalities and cases involving serious
      physical injury. Generate reports from information gathered from NYPD, ACS or Doctors.
    Provide ACS with information in regards to open court cases involving children. Serve as a liaison with law
      enforcement agencies and other entities in obtaining necessary documentation and records in support of
      prosecution.
    Supervise five support staff members, including but not limited to quarterly and annual performance
      evaluations, approval of timesheets and leave requests, Assignment of cases to legal assistants and attend
      Supervisory meetings.
    Provide coverage for Bureau Secretary and Data entry when needed.
    Provide ACS with Lists of convictions obtained by our office pursuant to CPL Section 440.35 each month.
    Submit Annual Statistics in a timely manner to Administration.
    As the Case Manager you will calculate statistics for the Child Abuse Response Team as well as the number of
      Joint Interviews performed each year.

    A baccalaureate degree preferred or a high school diploma with prior work experience in a law firm,
     governmental agency, civic or community organization.
