HR Director, Certificated Employment Operations & Support Services                                      2008 – Present
 Provide strategic leadership for Adult Education, Early Education, Substitute, and Salary Allocation departments.
 Develop and implement certificated employee policies/procedures and workforce production strategies/processes.
 Manage employee reassignments/transfers and interim staffing. Coordinate processing of leaves of absence,
 terminations, retirements, professional experts, community representatives, and student aides. Facilitate weekly staff
 meetings and participate in senior staff meetings. Work with technological systems, collaborate across multiple internal
 departments, coordinate staffing reports, and contribute to labor negotiations. Monitor state/federal regulatory
 compliance for 30K+ employees. Lead team of 5 Assistant Directors and 11 Specialists, plus ~100 personnel reporting
 through them. Deliver relevant communiqués to all 900 school sites. Report directly to LAUSD Board of Education.
       Orchestrated successful reduction in force initiative for 8K+ employees over period of four
        consecutive years by giving ample notices and maintaining exceptional records recognized by hearing judge.
       Coordinated hiring, processing, and successful retention of 40K+ employees for nation’s second
        largest district for three years running.
       Maintained 98% staffing rate for all 900 schools during last three years through selective recruitment
        and hiring, employment fair participation, and teacher/staff training and development initiatives.
       Cut employment processing time in half by restructuring, streamlining, and consolidating department
        with other HR divisions and cross-training existing staff.
       Expedited substitute teacher requests and deployment by initiating acquisition and deployment of
        WebConnect system to request and deploy 6K+ substitutes to more than 800 schools throughout district.

 Analysts. Contributed to labor negotiations.
       Played instrumental role in resolving HR issues with new enterprise-wide computer system by revamping
        teacher pay and status components.

      Strengthened school safety throughout district by introducing and initiating picture identification
       system for all substitute teachers. Within one school year, all 6,000 substitute teachers had photo IDs.
      Accelerated delivery of service, while upgrading quality of teaching staff by consolidating customer
       service component of Substitute Unit and Placement & Assignments Unit.
