CPE PRESENTATION: Sunny introduced Attorney Rob S. Gilmore, Kohrman Jackson & Krantz, P.L.L., who gave an interesting presentation on “Top Ten Mistakes Employers Make”. He provided valuable information on hiring and firing practices. Anyone interested in receiving his employment newsletter may contact him via email at rsg@kjk.com . QUORUMS: Board (majority-4 of 6) and Membership (23%-5 of 22) Quorums were met. CALL TO ORDER: President Sonia “Sunny” Shellito called the meeting to order at 7:50 pm. CORRESPONDENCE: The National Slate for 2005-2006 was reviewed. The 2005-2006 Chapter Dues was reviewed. It was decided to keep the same rates. MINUTES: Jenny Earley took the minutes. The minutes for the October 28 and November 17 meetings have been previously approved, forwarded to National, and posted to the Chapter Web site. TREASURERS REPORT: Sunny Shellito referred to the July 24, 2004 planning meeting motion to transfer any monies left over from the convention budget to the Scholarship Fund. The Treasurers Report for the six months ending December 31, 2004 were approved by Kathy Novak and seconded by Ilona Daw-Krizman. MEMBERSHIP REPORT: We have a new member certificate waiting to be presented to Mary Miles. An application was received and sent for Anita Iyer. Jenny Earley will inquire if moving the meetings to Wednesday would enable more students to attend. MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL: Ilona Daw-Krizman reported our outing on January 14 th to see the play “Menopause the Musical” at the Playhouse Square Theater was a success. Many different groups, members and nonmembers, friends and family attended. A total of 23 tickets were sold. Our seats were in the front section rows. Everyone laughed, enjoyed the play, and had a good time.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Kathy Novak submitted a Scholarship Committee Report. Kathy has received the applications, contacted professors, mailed information packets to possible candidates, and posted the information on our website. Feb 28th is the deadline for applicants. We will then review and select the applicants to submit to National before their March 18th deadline. Sunny distributed information on scholarship.com, a listing service, which Kathy will consider using for next year’s scholarship. Sunny has 3 books for sale to raise funds; “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America”, “Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World”, and “The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers Are Going Broke”. Please contact Sunny Shellito for further information. PROGRAM CHAIR: Sunny needs to delegate the open position of Program Chair and CPE Reporting. Anyone interested please contact Sunny. JOB OPENINGS: Ilona Daw-Krizman announced an opening for staff accountant in construction with 1-2 years experience. Please contact her for further information. FUTURE MEETINGS: Jill Gibson was working on having a meeting at CASE but her department would prefer to have us come and talk about ASWA. We will keep working with Jill as our Case representative. Sunny’s husband is moving his office to Broadview Heights; this is a possible site for future meetings. Our next meeting will be held at Chester Commons, and the topic will be “The Polar Zone: How to Break the Ice and Warm any Room” presented by Ted Janusz.
