A peerreview voting system took place and the winner was Glenis Johnston for her talk on ‘the role of telemedicine technology in support of patients with chronic conditions’. Congratulations Glen!
Congratulations to Margaret Greenfields for her 10 page publication now in print on Gypsies, Travellers and Accommodation, which is a Race Equality Foundation Briefing Paper. Pictured above are Margaret and Crystal Oldman in St Stephens, Westminster Great Hall in London after the launch of the report and the briefing. Mountains of Research David Brodie visited Nepal from 10 – 24 March to work with collaborators at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Eastern Nepal. The two projects he is working on are a) incidence and prevention of iodine deficiency, and b) a kidney, hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular community programme. The purpose of the visit was: to establish the progress of the two projects which are currently being undertaken in Nepal, to meet the staff who are engaged in the projects, especially the field workers, to see, first hand, the projects being undertaken in the field situation, to plan the details of the expenditure of grants so far received, to discuss the reporting strategy of the work, to plan future grant applications, to agree on cooperation with respect to data analysis, to agree on future phases of the work. All research objectives were achieved and Prof. Brodie is now seeking further funds and equipment to extend the work.
