The workcamp is organized for the first time in cooperation with the Municipality of
Kumrovec and Croatian Zagorje Museums. Kumrovec is a small village that counts
about 1800 inhabitants. In 1953 in Kumrovec the museum ‘Staro selo’ was founded.
‘Staro selo’ is an open-air ethnographic museum. The 15 permanent ethnographic
displays and the two historical ones provide insight into the traditional ways of life, old
customs, handicrafts, and trades some of which have long become forgotten. The
visitors are also introduced to historical figures and events connected to Kumrovec
for example in Kumrovec you can visit the residence of Josip Broz.

Work: Volunteers will work on cleaning paths that lead from the street to an
archeological site and prepare wooden sign-post. Volunteers are expected to work 6
hours per day. Physical work
Study: vols will be introduced with the museum and with traditional ways of life of this
Croatian region. Volunteers will also organize an intercultural evening for local people
and an open discussion on EGV will also be organized.
Accommodation: Volunteers will sleep in an house in ‘Staro selo’ with all facilities.
Terminal: Zagreb. Kumrovec is situated 45 km Northern than Zagreb

FEST
The Croatian Music Festival is a music festival which attracts many demo bands from
all over Croatia and gives them an opportunity to start their music careers. This will
be the 15th edition of the festival where about 30 music bands from Croatia take part.
The workcamp is organized for the 3rd time in cooperation with organization Mraz.
Work: Volunteers will assist in organizing Festival, which includes the following:
preparing the space for the concert, selling promotional materials, accommodating
the performers, presenting the award winners, cleaning the space after the concert.
Volunteers will also paint the children’s department in the local hospital in Zabok and
jointly with local volunteers they'll clean up the city park area. The volunteers have to
be prepared for some serious and responsible work and they should also be good in
team work.
Considering is a festival volunteers are also expected to be flexible and prepared to
last minute changes in work table.
Study: Volunteers will have chance to get information about culture of region. In plan
there is a projection of short movie about youth associations in Krapina-Zagorje
county and trip to Kumrovec where the volunteers will have the opportunity to visit an
open air ethnographic museum about lifestyle in Zagorje in XX century, old crafts and
trades.
Accommodation: Accommodation will be at the freshly reconstructed “Green hall” in
the Youth Centre. Volunteers will have to take sleeping bags with them. Due to
temperature oscillations, we recommend to bring also some warm clothes, work
clothes and a swimsuit. Newly decorated kitchen and internet will be also at
volunteers disposal.
Terminal: Due to good public communication between Zagreb and Zabok, we will
welcome the volunteers at the train station in Zabok.

The activities will be implemented in a little community not far away from Karlovac.
Work: Planned work activities will be connected with cleaning the illegal waste
deposits and landscaping. Volunteers will daily work approx. 6 hours. There will be 2
free days during workcamp. Hard physical work!
Study: Presentation of Eco Pan organization, walk through local villages and
recycling workshops are planned.
Language: English
Accommodation: volunteers will be accommodated in a school or in an house and
will cook by themselves. Sleeping bags and mats are required.
Terminal: Meeting point will be in Karlovac, on train station at 5pm and on bus station
at 6 pm, the day before official start of workcamp.

The workcamp is organized for the first time in cooperation with the local organisation
St. Pelegrin. Workcamp is located in the fishing town of Kali on the island of Ugljan.
The village is characterized by small streets and typical Dalmatian old houses
Work: The main aim of the workcamp is to rearrange a belvedere point and to
promote it as meeting place for tourists and local people in Kali where to organize
public events and promote local culture. Volunteers will work 6 hours a day on
various activities, like preparing the working site, making info-boards for the
belvedere, refurbishing the fence, refurbishing the existing benches, planting trees,
setting up the solar lamps. Volunteers will also prepare the intercultural evening and
the opening of the renovated belvedere point.
Study: Study part will focus on presenting the local organization (St. Pelegrin), a
lecture on the importance of volunteering and the European year of Volunteering
2011, presenting the projects of the organization Youth of Kali which combine local
tradition, customs, and volunteering; basics of Croatian language.
Language: English
Accommodation: Accommodation will be in the elementary school Valentin Klarin,
Preko in Kali. Volunteers will sleep on the floor on the mats - sleeping bags
necessary. Kitchen and dining room within the school facilities. Volunteers will cook
in teams of two per meal.

Kuterevo is a village in the region of Lika in the mountain of Velebit, known as the
place of bears and people. It borders the Velebit Nature Park and is in the vicinity to
the Northern Velebit National Park. It is located in the valley surrounded by hills and
forest which is also habitat for several bears and other wild animals. Velebit
Association Kuterevo runs the Bear Refuge Project and in parallels to it sort of the
refuge for volunteers - Volunteers’ Station, which organizes different voluntary
activities. This year workcamp will be dedicated to UN year of the forests, European
year of volunteering and No more war campaign of SCI (to be confirmed).
WORK: During first week, volunteers will be planting native fruit trees that are very
important for maintenance of biodiversity on forest ecosystems, and an excellent
food resource for bears, birds and other animals. The second week will be dedicated
to preparation of a big cultural festivity of three villages: Kuterevo-Krasno-Kosinj,
where volunteers will present their work, cultures and aims of the workcamp. In the
case of the bad weather, the volunteers will be involved in the project Preservation of
cultural and natural heritage. They will be collecting stories, photos and different
documentations about their culture, customs, habits as well as local people stories
about their life with nature.
Study: The main topic of the study part will be based on peace education (workshops,
discussions, movie projections about reconciliation and conflicts in the Balkan). Since
the main activities of the host organization are connected with protection of brown
bear, volunteers will learn about this mystic animal that is present in all Balkan
countries and will have a chance to share knowledge about situation of bears in their
own countries.
Language: Croatian/Serbian/Bosnian and English when needed
Accommodation: During the first week in a traditional wooden house with all basic
facilities (solar showers, composting toilets). Second week the camp will be moved to
the other project site, which is 2.5 km from the village in the mountains. Bring
sleeping bags and carry-mats. Food will be local and mostly vegetarian (but still
respecting everybody’s needs).

Slatina is a town in Slavonia - continental part of Croatia. It is located in Virovitica-
Podravina County, at the contact of river Drava valley and the foothills of Papuk
mountain. This is small town with lots of parks, surrounded by vineyards and small
hills. The workcamp will be organized for the 7th time in cooperation with Youth
organization Krik.
Work: The main aim of the workcamp is to socialize with disabled people through
participation in art workshops, spending time together after and before workshops
and to connect people with different possibilities and develop mutual respect and
tolerance. Also one day of workcamp we will dedicate to ecological cleaning or work
for local community.
Study: Study part will be connected with care and policy for disable people in
participants countries. Please bring some materials that illustrate life of disabled
people in your country.
Accommodation: NGO centre with all facilities available. Volunteers will sleep all
together in one room - mattresses are provided, but we suggest you to bring sleeping
bags. Volunteers will cook and clean for themselves. Please bring along recepies
and spices typical for your homeland J.

Several months ago Eco Pan organization bought a small piece of land in a village
Šćulac. During next few years they plan to build there Pan Educational Center, where
students and citizens will be able to learn directly about sustainable development,
through continual workshops. A whole center is planned to be build by volunteers
(Pan members, friends, locals, international volunteers) in period of next 5 years. 10
minutes of walking from the land is a river beach where volunteers can swim and
relax after work.
Work: This will be a first workcamp on the land and the beginning of the building
process. It is expected that work will be basic: cutting trees weeds, and grass,
cleaning, building a fence, gardening, composting. Also, there will be some additional
workshops with children from the local community. Volunteers are expected to work
about 6 hours per day, please be ready to hard physical work!
Study: Presentation of Eco Pan Organization, introduction and walk through local
villages (Barilović and Skradska Gora) is planned.
Language: English
Accommodation: house/local school, volunteers has to bring sleeping bags and mats

Work: Volunteers will work in the two monastery complexes and its surroundings.
Daily work will be up to 6 hours per day. Work will contains clean up actions and
horticultural arranging of the monastery yard, fixing inventory and helping in daily
working duties in monasteries.
Volunteers will enjoy natural beauty of Slepce and nearby villages and learn about
local customs and socialize with local people. Volunteers will have the opportunity to
learn about monastery tourism in Demir Hisar municipality. Also volunteers will have
workshops about making honey process and icons.

BITOLA OPEN CITY- ART FESTIVAL 2011, BITOLA

"Bitola (Macedonian: Битола, formerly Monastir or Manastir; known also by several
alternative names) is a city in the southwestern part of the Republic of Macedonia.
The city is an administrative, cultural, industrial, commercial, and educational centre.
It is located in the southern part of the Pelagonia valley, surrounded by the Baba and
Nidže mountains, 14 km north of the Medžitlija-Níki border crossing with Greece. It is
an important junction connecting the south of the Adriatic Sea with the Aegean Sea
and Central Europe. It is known from the Ottoman period as ""the city of the consuls"",
as many European countries have consulates in Bitola. According to some sources,
Bitola is the second largest town in the country and to others the third. Bitola is also
the centre of the Bitola Municipality.
This year Bitola Open City Festival will have jubelee tenth edition and will be full of
happenings like rock concert as the highlight of the gathering, graffiti gallery,
rollerblading competition, street theatre, workshops, jam sessions evenings…
Work: Volunteers will work on festival like staff. They will be in charge for logistics
preparation and realization of the festival. Daily work depends of the day but it won’t
be longer then 3- 4 hours. Also, volunteers will have creative workshops and will
prepare short artistic performance which will be part of the festival’s program.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in student’s dormitory near the
centre of Bitola. Showers and toilets available...There will be plenty of food of

The/project: The project will take place in National Park Biogradska Gora, north part
of Montenegro. The volunteers will be worked on cleaning and removing the garbage
in one part of National park around the Biogradsko lake.
Description of the work: Volunteers will be cleaning the local area around Biogradska
Lake, removing the garbage and all along the regional roads in the area, cleaning the
surrounding forests of garbage and waste. Working hours will be about 5-6 per day.
Numbers of volunteers: 6 volunteers.
Accommodation/food: Volunteers will be hosted in bungalows. They will prepare the
food by themselves.
Things to bring: Volunteers have to take working clothes, warm clothes (mountains
nights could be cold), also they can bring typical staffs (food, music...) from their
country.
Leisure: During the free time, camp leader will organize excursions in the
surrounding areas, hiking on mountains and surrounding hills, trip to the
neighbouring, during the night will be possible to go in the town for spend some time
in pubs and locals.

each of this locality the duration of the work camp will be 10 days. The volunteers will
work on cleaning critical area in those municipality. The volunteers will work on
cleaning and removing the waste all along the regional roads in the area of Tivat.
Description of the work: Volunteers will be cleaning the local area around Tivat,
removing the waste all along the regional roads in the area. Working hours will be
about 5/6 per day.

structures). They will prepare the food by themselves.

Landscape/surrounding: Tivat is located in the central part of the Boka, south of
mount Vrmac. The municipality lies mostly south of the town, and also has an exit to
open sea at the tourist location Pržno inlet near Radovići village in south. Its central
part, where Tivat Airport is located, lies in fertile Grbalj valley. The airport is located
near the isthmus of Luštica peninsula, which belongs to the municipality of Herceg
Novi for the most part.
Tivat nestles in the heart of the Boka Bay, 'the bride of the Adriatic', with its wonderful
coastline with many beaches, coves, harbours, and still largely undiscovered, very
attractive hinterland. The rich archaeological findings and cultural and historic
heritage testify of its early beginnings. Diverse cultural programs, popular festivities
and sport events have become synonymous with the town. Still, their special features
are its people, hospitable and open for all the curious guests coming in good faith.

The/project: The project will take place in three towns tivat, Cetinje and Kolasin. For
each of this locality the duration of the work camp will be 15 days. The volunteers will
work on cleaning critical area in those municipalities. The volunteers will work on
cleaning and removing the garbage all along the regional roads in the area of Cetinje.
Description of the work: Volunteers will be cleaning the local area around Cetinje,
removing the garbage all along the regional roads in the area, cleaning the
surrounding forests of garbage and waste, rearranging the area on the top of the
Lovcen mt. where is the mausoleum to the famous Montenegrin ruler Njegosh.
Working hours will be about 5/6 per day.
Numbers of volunteers: 15 volunteers.
Accommodation/food: Volunteers will be hosted in public buildings (schools or other
structures). They will prepare the food by themselves.

Landscape/surrounding: Situated in the fields of Cetinje, at the base of the Lovcen
mountain, Cetinje is a treasure of Montenegrin cultural and historical heritage. It
scent with the architecture from 18th and 19th century that cos from rich greenery of
this small city. Cetinje is the capital of Montenegro and Crnogorsko - primorska
Mitropolija. During King Nicola’s reign many embassies were built that give it today's
specific looks. Two of the most representative buildings are the Monasteries of
Cetinje and Biljarda. Cetinje Monastery was built in 1701 and even though the Turks
destroyed it several tis, the people built it up again. There are relics of Saint Petar of
Cetinje, one the illustrious patrons of Montenegrin history. Cetinje Monastery
represents the spiritual and political seat of the Montenegrin people. For the state
purpose Njegos built Biljarda, a building (monastery) that took its na after the pool
(billiards) that this exceptional poet, tropolitan, philosopher and statesman liked to
play. Cetinje abounds in museums, as well as the Art Academy, parks and from Orlov

Landscape/surrounding Ulcinj is the southernmost city at Montenegrin coast. With its
natural potential Ulcinj is tourism borne. The longest beach at the Adriatic sea –
Velika Plaza that is 13 km long, the Ada Bojana – a unique river island with
marvellous sandy beaches, Valdanos – a unique bay with a coastline covered in old
olive trees, the reconstructed old city of Ulcinj – full of interesting restaurants, cafés,
galleries and hotels … and many other attractive sights make Ulcinj unique and
attractive for many tourists. Ulcinj is a city that you have to visit.
