A Project On Public Relations Management Presented By ABOUT CINEMAX COMPANY PROFILE • The house of Kanakias for over 20 years has been developing premium spanning across 40 lacs sq ft. & more. • Houses to shaping the future of children. • “Smt Ramaben Babubhai Kanakia school” at the Beverly park (Mira road). • To promote Art and Culture the company recently established „KANAKIA ART FOUNDATION‟. The quantum leap for the group has been its foray into entertainment with revolution initiative. The kanakias subsidiary “CINEMAX” has emerged pioneers as cinema exhibitors in India 19 screens across seven locations. Cinemax theater draws a monthly audience of approx: 8 lacs, 5281 seats * 5 shows */ 30 days . The company has put the magic back into going to the movies. GOREGAON (W) • Revolution of modern cinemas in India. • Set up in December 1997. • Equipped with Christie projection and the latest in Digital Sound. • 401 seats in stall, 237 seats in balcony and 11 seats in box. • Small capacity screen consisting of 49 seats having DLP projection system and advanced technology. KANDIVALI (W) • Founded in February 1998, located in the posh Sona Shopping Centre. • 281 seats in dress circle and 6 seats in box. • Art Sound and Projection System. • Open air cafeteria. MIRA ROAD (E) • Cinemax added a second multiplex in its chain. • 3 Screen Multiplex, Dolby digital and D.T.S sound system. • Presence of a hip shopping mall and lavish Café. • Screen l - 277 seats, Screen ll - 357 seats, Screen lll - 384 seats. WONDER MALL, THANE • Cinemax at Wonder Mall, Thane is the first 4 Screen Multiplex of the chain. • Dolby digital and DTS Sound system. • The total seating capacity becomes 1136 with 2 Screens of 316 seats & 252 seats each. ANDHERI (E) • Started entertaining people in August 1998. • Located at Andheri near the Western Express Highway, Eagles Flight. • The Screen is curved for better viewing from any angle and has Digital Sound and Hi Fi Projection System. SION • Started in October 2000 with its Twin Screen Complex wiz. Cine Max, Sion I and Cine Max, Sion II having 327 and 216 seats respectively. • Equipped with the latest in digital sound with EX track [3 way sound] and Xenon light and Strong Projection System. • Speciality is that it has ample car parking space and exclusive Garden Terrace Cafe and mini screens open for parties and corporate meetings. INFINITI MALL, VERSOVA • Biggest multiplex of Mumbai with 6 screens and 1671 seats. • RED LOUNGE with Gold and Silver screens to make movie viewing experience at its best. • For the first time ever in Mumbai, two screens titled Gold Screen and Silver Screen are introduced in the brightly lit lounge titled The Red Lounge, which has Recliner seats. • Screen l - 288 seats, Screen ll - 288 seats, Screen lll - 377 seats. VARIETY MALL, NAGPUR • Cinemax is coming up with a multiplex at Variety Mall, Nagpur. • The 3 screen multiplex will have a special feature, red lounge. T- CINEMAX LUCKNOW • Coming up with a grand multiplex at Lucknow, T Cinemax will be a 7 screen multiplex. • With two screens having red lounge this multiplex will change the way people look for, at the entertainment hangout place. FUNCTIONS • PRO of Cinemax-” function of the day starts by going through all the newspapers”. • Check that where the name Cinemax has been mentioned. • Check whether the organisation received negative or positive publicity. • Get constantly updated and informed. • What is going on where and which event or activity can be done for the best of the PR organisation. • Conceptualize an event. • Maintain healthy relations with the media. • Effectively handle the negative publicity. • The function is to see that when some one thinks of movies they think of Cinemax. STRATEGY • Basic strategy is to stay in the news. • Promote the name Cinemax by the way of media and press. • Write press releases, quotes and article to various newspapers, paid or not paid. • Understand the consumer and their needs. Eg: the red lounge SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY • The pr department also considers on many social events. The kanakia group believes in supporting many social causes through the medium of their organisation. • This is achieved by the pr department by organizing various events for the underprivileged children, handicapped, deaf and dumb. EVALUATION • The pr department has been a very effective tool for promoting the Cinemax brand image. • This is clearly evident by the various events and the media coverage that they have received. • The brought Jackie Chan to Cinemax for his movie which seemed like a difficult task but this was achieved by the pr department. • The premiere of mixed doubles was also held at Cinemax. What is your goal as a PR person? So what kind of a PR strategy do you follow? How did you promote Red Lounge? Can u also give us a PR strategy of yours that was not that successful? So what did u do to curb the negative publicity? What are your future PR strategies?
