                   17, 2008, to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of July 15,
                   2008, be received.

     F 1.    Annual Meeting of Municipal Heritage Committees of Peel Sub-Committee
             (Brampton hosting in 2009)

             Board discussion on this matter included the need for the subject sub-
             committee to meet to start planning for the 2009 Annual Meeting of
             Municipal Heritage Committees of Peel, which the Board will be hosting. It
             was indicated that the sub-committee would meet prior to the Board
             Meeting of August 19, 2008 and report back at that time.

             Mr. Jim Leonard, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and
             Development, confirmed that consideration is being given to the level of
             funding that will be required in 2009 for the Annual Meeting.

                   Meeting of July 2, 2008 (File G33), to the Brampton Heritage
                   Board Meeting of July 15, 2008, be received.

             (Historic Plaque Program, Newsletter, Projects, Events)

             F 4-1. Minutes – Outreach and Marketing Sub-Committee – June 25,
                    2008 (File G33).

                   The subject minutes were distributed at the meeting.

                   Mr. Michael Avis, Sub-Committee Chair, provided a reminder to
                   new Board Members to order their t-shirts to be worn at outreach
                   events.

                   Mr. Lynda Voegtle confirmed that she has ordered the magnetic
                   name badges for all new Board Members.

                   Mr. Avis provided an update on the Heritage Plaque Program,
                   indicating that they have received all but 2 or 3 sign-offs from
                   property owners.

                   The following motion was considered.

                   Mr. Steve Collie, Board Member, advised that he was asked to lead
                   a walking tour of heritage sites in downtown Brampton on
                   Thursday, August 21, 2008 for delegates to the Ontario
                   Horticultural Association’s Annual Convention. He provided details
                   on the proposed walking tour and indicated he is willing to provide
                   the requested tour on behalf of the Brampton Heritage Board.

                   Board discussion on this matter included the need for additional
                   Board Member volunteers to assist with the tour. A number of
                   Board Members advised Mr. Collie of their willingness to help out.

                   The following motion was considered.

HB108-2008         1.     That the verbal report from Mr. Steve Collie, Board Member,
                          to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of July 15, 2008,
                          re: Walking Tour of Heritage Sites in Downtown
                          Brampton for Delegates to the Ontario Horticultural
                          Association’s Annual Convention – Thursday, August
                          21, 2008 (File G33) be received; and,

                   2.     That Brampton Heritage Board Member volunteers
                          participate in the subject event on behalf of the Brampton
                          Heritage Board.

     F 5.    Ad Hoc Committee to Explore Options for the Re-use of the former
             CP Railway Station

             Mr. Jim Leonard, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and
             Development, provided an update on the relocation of the former CP
             Railway Station components. He confirmed that he would keep the Board
             posted on these activities and would also ensure that Board Members and
             Members of the Brampton Historical Society are provided with advance
             notice of the move date for the Station components, for purposes of photo
             documentation, etc.


     F 6.    Awards Sub-Committee

             Mr. David Moote, Sub-Committee Chair, confirmed that the Board’s
             nomination of Mr. Michael Avis for an award under the Ontario Heritage
             Trust’s 2008 Heritage Community Recognition Program has been

             submitted. He extended thanks to Board Members and City staff for their
             assistance in this regard.


     F 7.    Humber Watershed Alliance from 2007 to 2009
             (Board Members on the Alliance for the term 2007 to 2009 are: Larry Giles
             and David Moote [alternate])

             F 7-1. Minutes – Humber Watershed Alliance Heritage Sub-

                   Mr. Larry Giles, the Brampton Heritage Board’s Member on the
                   Humber Watershed Alliance, provided an overview of the subject
                   minutes, highlighting the update on the Humber River Bridge
                   Inventory project outlined therein.

                   The following motion was considered.

             F 8-1. Verbal update from Ms. Susan Soares, Brampton Heritage Board
                    Member on the City’s Communities in Bloom Committee, re:
                    Update on 2008 Communities in Bloom Competition (File G33).

                   Ms. Susan Soares, the Brampton Heritage Board’s Member on the
                   City’s Communities in Bloom Committee, provided the following
                   verbal update:

                   •   The Communities in Bloom Committee meeting scheduled to be
                       held on this date (July 15, 2008) was cancelled
                   •   Advised that a meeting of Communities in Bloom Heritage
                       Partners took place on July 7, 2008 to review details for the
                       heritage stops for the judges on August 14, 2008, provided an
                       overview of the discussions that took place at that time including
                       proposed timelines and locations for the heritage stops, and
                       requested that Board Members advise her directly of their
                       availability to participate
                   •   Provided a reminder that the Community Showcase event is
                       scheduled for August 14, 2008 at Chinguacousy Park from 6:00
                       p.m. to 10:00 p.m., reiterated the need for Board Member
                       volunteers, and requested that Members advise her directly of
                       their availability to participate

                   Mr. Michael Avis and Mr. Steve Collie, Board Members, provided
                   details on the proposed heritage stop at the Brampton Pioneer
                   Cemetery on Main Street North (north of Vodden Street).

                   The following motion was considered.

HB111-2008         That the verbal update from Ms. Susan Soares, Brampton Heritage
                   Board Member on the City’s Communities in Bloom Committee, to
                   the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of July 15, 2008, re: Update
                   on 2008 Communities in Bloom Competition (File G33) be
                   received.

             F 9-1. Report from Mr. David Moote, Chair, Budget Sub-Committee,
                    undated, re: Information Update and Overview of the first
                    meeting of the Budget Sub-Committee held on July 11, 2008

                   Mr. David Moote, Sub-Committee Chair, referenced his written
                   report, which was distributed at this meeting, and provided an
                   overview of the information contained therein, highlighting his
                   request for feedback from Board Members with respect to
                   suggestions for current/future programs, etc.

                   Board discussion on this matter included:

                   •   A reminder of the City’s 5 Year Heritage Plan that is currently
                       being developed and will be presented at a future Board
                       Meeting, and a request that Board Members provide any
                       suggestions they may have for possible inclusion in the Plan
                   •   An indication that the future statutory Notices of Intention to
                       Designate and Notices of the passing of designation by-laws
                       could be posted on the City’s website (once changes are made
                       to the City’s Procedure By-law), and therefore, free up the
                       money that has been budgeted for this purpose so that it could
                       possibly be used for other heritage initiatives
                   •   A request to Mr. Jim Leonard, Heritage Coordinator, Planning,
                       Design and Development, for budget statements on a monthly
                       basis, and an indication from Mr. Leonard that he would look
                       into this matter and report back

                   The following motion was considered.

HB112-2008         That the report from Mr. David Moote, Chair, Budget Sub-
                   Committee, undated, to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of
                   July 15, 2008, re: Information Update and Overview of the first
                   meeting of the Budget Sub-Committee held on July 11, 2008
                   (File G33) be received.

             No specific updates were provided on the proposed designations listed
             below.

             In response to a question, Mr. Jim Leonard, Heritage Coordinator,
             Planning, Design and Development, advised that it is anticipated that
             Notices of Intention to Designate for a number of these properties are to
             be published in the Brampton Guardian in the near future.

             There were no recent designations for consideration at this time.


H.   Churchville Heritage Conservation District

     H 1.    Minutes – Churchville Heritage Committee – July 14, 2008 (File
             G33CH).

             This item was deleted under Approval of the Agenda, as the Churchville
             Heritage Committee meeting of July 14, 2008 was cancelled, as quorum
             could not be achieved.


I.   Heritage Impact Assessments

     I 1.    Heritage Impact Assessment – Nathaniel Hunter House – 1120
             Bovaird Drive West – Ward 6 (File G33).

             Board consideration of this matter included:

             •   An overview of the subject heritage impact assessment from Mr. Jim
                 Leonard, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and Development,
                 and an indication from him that this assessment concurs with staff’s
                 position with respect to the subject property
             •   The heritage significance of the subject property which is supported by
                 both its Category A rating on the City of Brampton Register of Heritage
                 Resources and the information/recommendations contained in the
                 subject heritage impact assessment
             •   A review of the information contained in the subject heritage impact
                 assessment, which was commissioned by Weston Consulting Group
                 Inc. and acknowledgement of the ongoing efforts of Mr. Mark Emery,
                 President, Weston Consulting Group Inc., toward the preservation of
                 the City’s heritage resources (e.g. the former Hewetson Shoe Building)
             •   A review of the Heritage Resources Sub-Committee’s consideration of
                 the subject heritage impact assessment, and the sub-committee’s
                 recommendations outlined in the minutes listed under Item F 3-1 of this
                 agenda
             •   An advisory that the current owner seems willing to re-use the subject
                 house as a commercial building
             •   Concerns about the build up of water in the basement of the subject
                 property as noted in the heritage impact assessment, and an indication
                 from Mr. Leonard that the water appears to not have caused any

                damage and an outline from him of the steps currently being taken to
                resolve this issue

             The following motion was considered.

HB113-2008         1.     That the Heritage Impact Assessment re Nathaniel
                          Hunter House – 1120 Bovaird Drive West – Ward 6 (File
                          G33), to the Brampton Heritage Board Meeting of July 15,
                          2008, be received; and,

                   2.     That the recommendations outlined in the subject heritage
                          impact assessment be endorsed, in principle; and,

                   3.     That it is the position of the Brampton Heritage Board that
                          under no circumstances should the City allow the demolition
                          of the subject property; and,

                   4.     That the owner of the subject property be requested to
                          implement a security plan to ensure protection of the
                          property until occupancy is resumed; and,

                   5.     That Mr. Stephen Robinson of Robinson Heritage
                          Consulting, be thanked for his excellent work in researching

     J 1.    Restoration of Alderlea – Designated Heritage Property – 40
             Elizabeth Street South – Ward 4

             Ms. Antonietta Minichillo, Heritage Coordinator, Planning, Design and
             Development, provided an update on the restoration of Alderlea, advising
             that staff met with the consultants this week to establish a work plan
             based on the due diligence report. She provided an overview of the
             proposed work plan and proposed timelines for reporting to Council.

             In response to a question about adaptive re-use of the subject property,
             Ms. Minichillo advised that a number of uses are being considered and
             any re-use is to ensure the property is accessible to the general public.


K.   Correspondence

     K 1.    E-mail correspondence from Ms. Josie Premzell, Development Officer,
             Peel Heritage Complex, Region of Peel, dated July 8, 2008, re: Public
             Meeting – Community Consultation for Review of Programs at the
             Peel Heritage Complex – Tuesday, July 22, 2008 – 7:00 p.m. to 9:00
             p.m. – Historic Peel County Courthouse, Brampton (File G33).

             Mr. Paul Willoughby, Co-Chair, provided an overview of the subject
             correspondence. He highlighted the ongoing cooperation from staff of the
             Peel Heritage Complex, and encouraged Board Members to attend and
             provide their input and support at the subject Public Meeting.

             A number of Board Members indicated their interest in attending the
             subject meeting, and it was indicated that Ms. Terri Brenton, Legislative
             Coordinator, Management and Administrative Services, would RSVP to
             the Peel Heritage Complex on their behalf.

             The following motion was considered.

HB114-2008         That the e-mail correspondence from Ms. Josie Premzell,

N.   Question Period

     N 1.    Mr. Larry Giles asked about the possibility of re-scheduling the August 19,
             2008 Board Meeting to August 12, 2008. It was indicated that the majority
             of Board Members preferred to keep with the original meeting date of
             August 19, 2008.

             City Councillor John Hutton asked about the need for an August Board
             Meeting. Mr. Jim Leonard and Ms. Antonietta Minichillo, Heritage
             Coordinators, Planning, Design and Development, indicated that there
             may be some matters that require consideration at the August Meeting,
             and therefore, it could not be determined at this time if this meeting would
             be required. It was indicated that Ms. Terri Brenton, Legislative
             Coordinator, Management and Administrative Services, would confirm the
             necessity for an August Board Meeting one week in advance of the
             proposed meeting date of August 19, 2008.
