             Agreement for Granting a Dual Doctorate Degree
                                     between

                 Technion – Israel Institute of Technology
                                         and

                     Politecnico di Milano, Doctoral School




This agreement is undertaken between Technion – Israel Institute of Technology,
hereinafter referred to as Technion , with legal domicile at Haifa 32000, Israel, and
Politecnico di Milano, Doctoral School, hereinafter referred to as the Politecnico di
Milano, with legal domicile at piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32, 20133 Milano, Italy.

In order to encourage mutual cooperation between these two universities, the
Technion, represented by its Senior Executive Vice President Professor Paul Feigin,
and the Politecnico di Milano, represented by its Rector’s Deputy Delegate for
International RelationsNetworks, Professor Giancarlo Spinelli (as identified in the
Rector Decree of delegation n. 94/AG of January 14th 2003) agree to offer a Dual
Doctorate Degree Program. A student successfully completing this doctorate program
will be granted the Ph.D. degree from the Technion and the Ph.D. degree from the
Politecnico di Milano.

This document sets out the mutual principles and guidelines according to which the
Technion and Politecnico di Milano agree to administer this Dual Doctorate Degree.

1.     Definitions

The student: A student pursuing the Dual Doctorate Degree.

Parent University: The student’s home University.

Host University: The other University.

The Universities: Both Parent University and Host University.

2.     Responsibility
The Dean of the Technion Graduate School will be responsible for administering the
program on behalf of the Technion. The Director of the Doctoral School at
Politecnico di Milano will be responsible for administering the program on behalf of
the Politecnico di Milano.

3.     Admission
3.1 For a student enrolled at the Technion, the Technion will be the Parent
    University and the Politecnico di Milano will be the Host University. For a
    student enrolled at the Politecnico di Milano, the Politecnico di Milano will be
    the Parent University and the Technion will be the Host University.

3.2 The student must be admitted for doctoral studies to both universities, in
    accordance with the criteria required by each one of them.

3.3 The student must receive approval for the Dual Doctorate from both universities
    during the first two years of his/her doctoral studies.

4.     Advisors
The student will be assigned at least two advisors, at least one from each university.

5.     Academic Requirements
5.1 The specific program of study and research for each student must be approved
    by both universities.

5.2 The student will conduct one research study under the joint supervision of
    his/her advisors.

5.3 The student must fulfill the requirements for the doctoral degrees at each
    university.

5.4 As part of the academic requirements for the Dual Doctorate, the student must
    successfully complete at least one graduate course at each university as part of
    the total number of graduate courses required by the program of study.

5.5 Both universities will mutually recognize all graduate courses taken by the
    student within his/her specified program of study.

5.6   The research conducted and the resulting doctoral thesis is expected to reflect
      the added value derived from the joint program of studies and from the
      supervision by advisors of the two universities.

5.7 Students are strongly encouraged to learn the language of the host university.



6.      Duration of Studies
6.1 Completion of the Dual Doctorate should nominally require four years
    altogether. In special cases and upon recommendation of the advisors, the Dean
    of the Graduate School at the Technion and the Director of the Doctoral School
    at Politecnico di Milano may shorten to three years or lengthen to five years the
    duration of the program.

6.2 The research and study activities will be carried out at the two Institutions during
    alternating or consecutive periods, as determined by the advisors. The total
    duration of the periods spent at each of the two Institutions is expected to be
    approximately equal and in any case not shorter than one year.




7.      Credits requirements and Dissertation DefenseDefence
7.1 The student must fulfil all requirements and regulations governing the Ph.D.
    programs of both Institutions, particularly with regard to the course credit
    recognition, qualifying examination (if requested) etc.

7.2 The student must successfully defend his/her dissertation at one of the two
    institutions, as determined by the advisors and approved by the Dean of the
    Graduate School at the Technion and the Director of the Doctoral School at
    Politecnico di Milano. The dissertation defense defence will be in English.

7.3 The Committee for the dissertation defense defence exam will consist of at least
    five professors expert in the subject of the thesis: at least three of these must
    come from departments or Institutions different from those of the advisors, with
    at least one from another Institution from the two engaged in this agreement. The
    committee will be nominated jointly by the two Institutions and approved by the
    Rector of Politecnico di Milano and the Dean of the Graduate School at the
    Technion.

8.     Description of Research Proposal and Dissertation
8.1 The dissertation and any other documents required during graduate studies will
    be written in English.

8.2 The final dissertation will be submitted simultaneously to the Senate of the
    Technion and to the Doctoral School at Politecnico di Milano, according to and
    in respect of the respective submission procedures.

9.     Entitlement and Granting the Degree
A student who has completed all the academic requirements for a doctoral degree at
both institutions and has fulfilled all obligations in each institution will be granted the
Ph.D. Degree from the Technion and the Ph.D. Degree from the Politecnico di Milano.
Each diploma will indicate that the degree is awarded within the Dual Doctorate
program with the other Institution.

10.    Intellectual Property
The rights to the knowledge developed during the course of the research will be
equally owned by the Technion and the Politecnico di Milano, unless otherwise
agreed to by both universities. The research results can be published only with the
consent of the advisors and the student. Publication of the results must acknowledge
that the research was carried out during the course of the Dual Doctorate Degree
Program between the Technion and the Politecnico di Milano.

11.    Administrative Guidelines
The Dean of the Graduate School at the Technion and the Director of the Doctoral
School at Politecnico di Milano may amend these guidelines from time to time.

11.1 Student financial support: The student is expected to be financially supported by
     a scholarship or grant from either one of the Institutions or both, or from a third
     party.

11.2 Tuition and fees will be paid to the parent university. The student will be exempt
     from paying tuition and fees to the host university.

11.3 The student’s travel expenses will be paid by the student and/or by the parent
     university and/or by the host university.

11.4 The student will be responsible for arranging health insurance coverage during
     the period that he/she is at the hosting university. The student will be required to
     show proof of health insurance before assuming his/her residency at the host
     Institutions.

12. Controversies
The parties agree to resolve amicably any controversy arising from the interpretation
of the present agreement. In the event that the disagreement cannot be resolved, the
issue(s) will be submitted for arbitration; each party will appoint a member of the
arbitration panel and an additional member will be chosen by mutual consent.

13. Expiration of this agreement
The agreement for a Dual Doctorate Degree for the particular student indicated in Part
2 of this document will expire when both doctoral titles are conferred, and in any case
will expire five years after the starting date of the Dual Doctorate Degree program.
Should the student decide not to proceed with the program or be denied authorization
to proceed, the two Institutions will end jointly the present agreement.

14. Languages

This agreement has been written in English.

Politecnico di Milano,

and

admitted to the PhD program in “PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering” at the
Technion – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,

on 22/09/2011

starts the program for the Dual Doctorate on 22/09/2011.

      2. Enrollment and scholarships

The student will get a scholarship from (home Institution) Politecnico di Milano for
the duration and according to the regulation of the Institution.

The student will not pay the enrollment fees at Technion University (host Institution)
