                                                Barclays Volunteers Needed

Our goal is to identify four professionals each day who can give us a full day of teaching at The AVIS teaching nets during the

feel like this is an important opportunity for the Section as well as positioning our professionals as the leaders in instruction.

boast two other exceptional courses in the tournament rotation, Cassique and The River Course. To avoid being shut out and to
be sure your team can get flights that match our event schedule, we suggest that you get your amateurs committed and submit
the deposit payments and make flight arrangements immediately.

More Success Stories for Met PGA Junior Golf Fund-Raisers

Our mission to once again top $100,000.00 for Junior Golf continues to gain great momentum and support from a number of
clubs and their terrific professional staffs. We have already reported on the efforts of Maidstone, The Bridge, Round Hill, Sunning-
dale and Deepdale as well as the season-long initiative at The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club. In the very last month we also received a
wonderful contribution from Seawane and have been working with two or three other clubs helping them prepare for their event.
Perhaps the greatest surprise, however, came when Tim Garvin and his staff at South Fork conducted a two-day event that raised
over $17,000.00. What a great commitment and fantastic shot in the arm for our overall goals. These dollars truly do make a dif-
ference with our Junior Golf and our First Tee programs to help kids whether they are interested in competition or are benefiting
from the Life Skills initiatives and lessons about Core Values.

“The Keith” Caddie Golf Tournament on Aug. 13th at Cherry Valley

One of the most inspiring stories is that of the Keith R. Cerrato Memorial Caddie Golf Tournament that returns to Cherry Valley on
Monday, Aug. 13th. Ed Kelly and members of Cherry Valley have created an event that provides caddies with an opportunity to
play while the fees support scholarship funds at Chaminade High School and Hofstra University where Keith Cerrato attended.
Keith died in a tragic accident over 5 years ago but as a caddie and young man at Cherry Valley, he truly left a legacy that has been
supported by this event. Professionals should contact our office or Ed Kelly at Cherry Valley to see how they can get involved and
how caddies from their clubs can participate in this event.

                                        Head Pro Contributions Approach $5,000.00

The Assistants Tour continues to reward great play and participation and the 2012 season has been filled with some great competi-
tion and some new formats and venues. The events have also had the purses supplemented by the Contribution Fund with dona-
tions from our head professionals allowing for a larger percentage of the field at each event to cash a check. The Assistants Contri-
bution Fund is nearing $5,000.00 and our head professionals and PGA Members continue to send in their support.
