Artfuldodgers.tv Induction Booklet – for Studio Participants

artfuldodgers.tv is a website developed - in partnership with Artful Dodgers Studios participants and Artful Dodgers Studios staff - to showcase and promote the work of young artists - ;visual arts, multi-media, music and recording.
Each participant from the studio will have the opportunity to showcase their art work and art making skills on their own individual page on the artfuldodgers.tv site.
In order to maintain privacy and protection participants must agree to: Not use their full name on their page; To use either an artist name, or just a first name – e.g. Bill Smith might call himself “Action man” or just “Bill”; No personal photos identifying the artist to be placed on the page – this does not include art photos where the individual is the subject of the photo; Artists from the studio may have a hyperlink from their own personal myspace or facebook site to the artfuldodgers.tv site – but not vice versa.

Approval Process. artfuldodgers.tv is an administrated site. All material submitted will undergo a system of approval by the Administrator (Arts and Culture Program Development Co-ordinator) before publication. Material deemed inappropriate, obscene or offensive by the Administrator will not be published as part of artfuldodgers.tv.
Inappropriate, obscene and offensive material is defined as: Pornographic imagery, video & audio, Graphically violent imagery, video & audio, Non-contextual use of coarse language. Racist imagery, video & audio, Sexist imagery, video & audio, Religiously insensitive imagery, video & audio Homophobic imagery, video & audio, Slanderous imagery, video & audio, Libellous imagery, video & audio &, Defamatory imagery, video & audio.
These definitions are not exclusive and the Artful Dodgers Studios (Jesuit Social Services) reserves the right to add to and clarify this list at any time. In the case of artwork, the relative artistic merit and purpose will be taken into account when judging work as inappropriate, obscene or offensive. The final decision about the appropriateness of material will be made by the Arts and Culture Coordinator and the Gateway Manager, after consultation with the participant. The approval process should take no longer than 48 hours. In times of high traffic this process may take longer. Artists have the right to appeal the approval process. The appeal process is outlined below in Dispute Resolution.

Inappropriate Material & Behaviour. Participants will be fully briefed as to what is appropriate and inappropriate. In the case of inappropriate material being submitted for publication, abuse of privileges etc, the following must first be determined: That it was the participant in question who is offending, That the participant has been informed of the guidelines & has signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect and, That there was intent behind the submission.
If these two conditions are met, then the following steps will be taken: The Administrator and the Artful Dodgers Studios staff will meet with the participant and discuss their behaviour and, Depending on the outcome of this meeting, the participant’s account is suspended until the situation is resolved. If there is repeat offending behaviour of this nature, the participant’s account may be permanently suspended. Submission Process. Initially, editing access to artfuldodgers.tv will only be available within the Artful Dodgers Studios site in Langridge Street, Collingwood. As the site matures, external editing access for participants may be permitted, allowing for the ability to update and post from off site locations. However changes to the site made externally will not be uploaded/accepted until they have been reviewed by the site administrator. Whilst participants have the ability to edit they cannot publish. Edits are submitted to the Administrator for approval. As stated elsewhere, a maximum delay of 48 hours is expected between submission and approval/ declination by the Administrator. Any administrative decision regarding editing/posting of material can be challenged. Please see the Dispute Resolution Process below. Dispute Resolution (Adapted from standard JSS policy). There will be times when material submitted for approval will be rejected by the Administrator. The participant has the right to ask: For the reason the material was rejected and,

Appeal the decision.
If this is the case the participant shall: 1. Inform the Administrator and they shall attempt to resolve the matter. 2. An investigation or review of the situation will be undertaken. An appropriate course of action will be determined. 3. If the participant still feels aggrieved: a. The participant shall inform the Administrator and the matter shall be referred to the Gateway Manager. b. The Artful Dodgers Studios will aim to manage disputes/grievances of a general nature through this process within seven working days. Artfuldodgers.tv Security. Each participant will be issued with a password that will give them editing access to sections of artfuldodgers.tv. It is the obligation of the participant to keep their login and passwords secure. Disclosing login information to a third party is a breach of the Usage Policy. Intellectual Properties. All materials and processes published as part of artfuldodgers.tv remain the property of the participant. The Artful Dodgers Studios (Jesuit Social Services) are granted - by the participant - non-exclusive license to publish these materials, in perpetuity, as part of artfuldodgers.tv. The artfuldodgers.tv site remains the intellectual property of the Artful Dodgers Studios (Jesuit Social Services). Copyright. All materials published as part of artfuldodgers.tv will be original work, copyright to the respective artist or organisation or licensed for usage. Material identified, as infringing copyright will be taken down and appropriate action taken. Infringing material is defined as that which the artist does not hold copyright, license or suitable permissions to claim ownership of.

Memorandum of Understanding. Participants will be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, stating that they have been informed of the above guidelines and understand their obligations. A copy of the memorandum will be stored on file. The participant will also be supplied with a copy for their records.

That the participant has agreed to the terms outlined in the induction booklet.
