					                     RESOLUTION ON CREATION OF TWO-HEARTED RIVER

                                              NATIONAL PARK


               WHEREAS, the National Park Service has done a nation-wide search to find a river
               system in pristine condition without development in its watershed as a candidate for
               establishment of the nation's only Wild River National Park; AND
               WHEREAS, the Park Service has selected the Two-Hearted River of Michigan's
               Upper Peninsula as one of its final candidates in the selection process; AND
               WHEREAS, the Two-Hearted River flows into Lake Su erior and is a wilderness
               river ecosystem flowing mostly through state forest; AN8
               WHEREAS, establishment of this National Park would preserve the river for future
                enerations while educating present generations about rlvers, their watersheds and
               kotic dynamics;
               THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT Great Lakes United su ports the
                                                                                 P
               establishment of the Two-Hearted River National Park if control o hunting, fishing,
               trapping, and related activities remains with the State of Michigan.
