Dear Ms Fowler
I have received a report on your complaint from the Invercargill City Council about
the refusal to release the information about the Bluff Swimming Pool. The
Council advised it was withholding agenda Items 16(d) and 16(j) on the grounds
of section 7(2)(i) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
1987 (copy enclosed). The Chief Executive of the Council, Mr Richard King,
stated that it was necessary to withhold the information to enable the Council and
the Bluff Community Board to negotiate over the future of the pool without
prejudice or disadvantage. Further information has been requested from the
Council on its decision to withhold the information on this ground.
Your request for the information about the Bluff Community Charitable Trust has
also been discussed with the Council. The Council is further considering the
decision to withhold the information and will be contacting me about this request
in the near future.
I will keep you informed of progress.
Yours sincerely
Christopher l/ittlewood
