 Bereavement Leave Policies are one of the most overlooked company policies in the 21st
 century, mainly because there are so many gray areas needing to be addressed. For starters,
 we live in a mobile society making it virtually impossible to achieve all grief-related
 responsibilities during a 3-5 day bereavement leave.

 Today's definition of blended families necessarily redefines the core grievers of a family loss.
 While many companies have addressed changes in policy by adding additional family members to
 the list of who is eligible for leave, they have not addressed what happens after the funeral,
 emotional set-backs that need attention and supporting the challenges of the employee.
